It's Alright to Write When it Feels Right
I'm not always in the mood to write. Yet writing is at the very center of what we do here at WA. Everything revolves around the creation of written content.
As part of the Super Wealthy Affiliate challenge, over the last two months we've been challenged to write 12 articles a month, each over 1000 words.
Using SiteContent, I setup my goals at the first of the month. By the end of the month, I had hit my goals...but something struck me as odd.
It didn't seem to me like I had a routine to getting the writing done. I would just kind of get into the "mood", and then crank out a couple of articles. (Before writing I did my keyword research and created empty placeholders for all articles in SiteContent).
Then I look a look at the data behind my writing...
Without even realizing it, I was writing two articles in a day, every 5 days (May 30 I was on holiday for Easter...so I didn't get any writing in).
These spikes of activity were not random. It was my "writing rhythm".
It doesn't always feel right to write...and when it doesn't, I don't write. But when it does, I sit down and focus on writing. During these times I feel more creative and the words seem to flow directly from my brain onto the screen.
I don't ever try to force writing. It never turns out good and I just end up frustrated. Instead, I will spend time researching keywords or doing general maintenance on my sites.
Anyway, take a look at the data provided through SiteContent. Do you see a pattern in your data? Are there particular days that really seems to "work" for you when it comes to writing?
If so, cultivate those days. Work to ensure those times are dedicated to your writing.
Best of luck in all you do!
