When Life Tragedies are too STRONG to bear!

In my last blog, I talked about taking responsibility for everything that is happening to you. But what about really awful events? The catastrophes, tragedies etc. You can own up to the problems like productivity issues, procrastination, laziness, avoiding conflicts and so on. But some things are just too painful to own up to.

Now again lets dive a little deeper. Suppose one night you get robbed, is it your fault? You can tell yourself that may be if you had a GUN, or may be if you are much "stronger" then this would not have happened. But let’s just say it did, 5 people simultaneously attacked you and you couldn’t do anything because you prioritize your life over your money, and that’s totally fine. But what now? How can you possibly take responsibility for that?. The truth is you can, Yes, think about it- The point of my previous essay was letting you know that “You should take responsibility for whatever has HAPPENED to you”. So, that means the event already happened. Of course you could not have stopped the robbery, but you can still manage your emotions, cover up your financial loss by regulating your expenses for a while, you can report the incident to the legal authorities to the best of the details and make sure to do everything which can cause further misuse of your belongings. Plus, if you had your family with you during that incident, then maybe you can try to stay calm so that they can rely upon you during the hard times as well as learn from you on how they should conduct themselves during a disaster or a severe tragedy. And one more thing you will learn is to not to roam around during late nights in the lone valleys especially with your family.

I can tell you a short true story related to this. Ever heard of Malala Yousafzai? She was shot when she was only 14 years old because she was speaking out against the school ban of Taliban after they took control of Swat Valley in Pakistan. She went into coma and almost died. Taliban even threatened, that if she somehow survived that assassination, than they will kill her whole family. That was in 2012. Fast forward two years, In 2014 she was not only one of the best selling author but also received a Nobel Prize, yes A friggin Nobel prize for her efforts of speaking about women oppression in various countries.

The point is: How you react to your tragedies is your own choice. Tragedies happen, to everyone. But you can either chose to convert that suffering into a lifetime of misery OR you can turn them into a reward and opportunity to learn, by controlling your actions and emotions. So yes, you are responsible for everything that’s happening to you and anything that will happen to you. Choose wisely.

Thanks for sharing Kunal.. have a fantastic week my friend!

Thanks man, I hope it helped you.

Absolutely it did buddy!

Very wise words, Kunal. No matter what happens, as long as we survive the incident, then we are still in the game. If we die, then game over!

Jeff

Damn True

Yes, indeed!

Maybe I am not understanding how we are responsible for everything that's happening to us. There is so much we have absolutely no control over but we do certainly have control over how we react to everything. Life is difficult at times. Thanks for your post and stirring my mind.

That was the point. You understood correctly. Thanks for the read Mam.

Is there a reason why are you highlighting many words in your blog post? I am curious that's all.

It's a technique used in calligraphy to make people read faster. If you have certain words bold out or written differently, then they focus on reaching there as quickly as possible to find out the meaning/context. This engages to read till the end.
