The Affiliate Marketer's Marathon

A NICE EVEN PACE

We know it’s essential to have goals as an Affiliate Marketer. When setting up these goals sometimes we forget to account for any obstacles that may deter us from reaching them.Some of these roadblocks may be family obligations, working full-time or just life in general get in the way. These goals are definitely attainable but maybe we need to just make a simple adjustment in the time frame we set to reach them?

I want to share a quick story and I promised myself to keep this blog shorter than the last. :}

I like to exercise, I use to walk at a fast pace around the neighborhood daily. I would walk around our development about an hour. A neighbor who is a marathon runner stopped me during one of my walks and asked me, “why don’t you run, you already walk pretty fast, you will burn a lot more calories?” I said, “I can’t I have asthma, I get to out of breath.” He looked at me and said,” you should come running with me sometime, I’ll train you, you could be running to fast or not breathing correctly?” I said, “I’ll never be able to do it, I won’t be able to keep up with you.”

He was very persistent and wouldn’t let up, so after his gentle persuasion, I gave in. I started out walking for 5 minutes, running for 5 and did this for a couple weeks. After a month’s time of building up my endurance, I’m now able to run 6k miles. On some days if it’s humid or windy I have to stop a few times to catch my breath, but I don’t quit, I catch my breath and start again. It might take me an hour or so but it doesn’t matter, I learned to run at my own pace.

I share this because it’s no different in this business, we’re not running a marathon, be excited, be motivated, but run at your own pace and you will get there in your time!

Hey Kathy! Like this perspective...so true in my case because life did happen, cancer diagnosis for a family member and then suicidal stuff going on in my teen...gotta keep those balls up in the air. Kept checking in now and again but didn't do too much with my site. It stayed live and when I cam back to it, did some cleaning up and backing up and ...of to the races again, albeit at my pace.

I love this community and the wonderful acknowledgments that come from meeting others and seeing them work and succeed.

So, thank you for the thoughtful post. It was getting that I'm not alone and where I am and what I am doing is just fine.

Linda

You're welcome Linda! :} I'm no expert but if I can help you can always send me a private message. My Best!

Thanks Kathy for your generous offer. You probably have allot to offer as I remember from your bio you have allot of outside experience. If I get super stuck I will keep your offer in mind but for the most part my questions are often answered by using the whit ask question here bar at the top of the screen.

Hope you had a good week and wishing you the best for our next month of successes.

'-) Linda

Thank you Linda! :} I hope you had a great week as well and hope both our February's are rewarding! :} Kathy

Absolutely. It was a crazy family week, a few really sad 'in your face' moments but a wonderfully encouraging week here in our community.

I am glad to have you in my network now. See you again soon.

Linda

Hang in there Linda! Life is never easy, you're doing your best, that's all that matters. :} Kathy

Great help you got for your running training, and you are right, it isn't a race, Loes

Hi Loes, yes, it was nice of him to take the time to help me. I don't think I will be doing any triatholon's anytime soon, but who knows I didn't think I would be running either, lol. Thanks for reading my blog. :}

Hi Loes, Thank you for your feedback on my blog. I hope you're enjoying your Holidays and I apologize if I didn't see this. I must of missed it. :{

Thanks for sharing Gary, yes I agree prioritizing our goals is important as well. Family certainly comes first. :}

Right on the money! Life needs to happen. I'm busier now in retirement than I was when I was working. Kids, grand kids (enough said). It's pretty easy to become discouraged when you don't attain your list of goals. Goals need to be constantly adjusted. Sometimes, you can reach a goal early. Sometimes a goal can take a lot longer than you imagined. The key is not to give up when most of your goals don't happen. Keep the goals list, just adjust the amount of time kit takes to achieve them. You might even need to re-arrange your goals into a different order. Good luck to all........

so true!

Hi Dan, I appreciate you taking the time to read my blog. Very kind of you. :}
