Eating Too Few Calories

Will cause your body to turn on ‘scarcity’ mode when not given enough calories to perform it’s activities . Your body believes food is scarce. This causes it to burn calories at a lower rate. When trying to lose weight, it’s important to give your body the right amount of calories it needs to perform needed activities. Eating too few calories actually lowers your metabolic rate. Make sure to eat a balanced diet that includes enough calories for your body type.

Not Getting Enough Protein

Protein is so very important. It literally determines how fast and how well your body burns calories. Protein actually causes our bodies to burn calories because of it’s thermic effect. Your body must work to process the protein. Don’t short change yourself by not eating it. Protein’s thermic rate is higher than carbohydrates or fats.

Lack of Physical Movement

Most people sit for long periods during the day. This lack of movement means a lack of calories burned from the foods you eat. Those unused calories get stored as fat unless they are used. Even small amounts of physical activity throughout the day, or, over a 30 minute or longer period will burn those calories, and prevent them from being stored as fat. A 30 minute brisk walk can burn between 300-400 calories. This can be done all at once, or spread throughout the day.

Lack of Sleep

Inadequate sleep will lower your metabolic rate. Adults that sleep only 4 hours per night will lower their metabolic rate by 2.6% on average. Twelve hours of uninterrupted sleep will return the sleep pattern to normal range. Make getting to bed early enough on a set schedule will help improve your metabolism.

Consuming Sugary Beverages

Sugary drinks are high in calories but lack nutrition. Cutting out sodas, and other drinks that contain corn syrups, and fructose will go a long way in immediately removing unused calories which will only be stored as fat. There are so many, healthy sugar free drinks to choose from. You can also opt for iced tea or coffee without the sugar.

Lack of Strength Training

In healthy individuals' strength training will increase their metabolic rate. Obese and overweight individuals', and those with heart disease can also benefit from strength training under a physicians' supervision. Building muscle increases the number of calories the body burns. Even the smallest amount of consistent weight training will boost your energy and metabolism. Not doing any weight training will cause your metabolism to decline.

Taking small consistent steps will help you build a healthier and stronger body.

Adding an all natural metabolism booster will be a healthy addition to your diet.

Have a wonderful weekend!
