The front man of the band "Tragically Hip" GORD DOWNIE has died of an incurable Brain tumor.

Thank you for posting this Sylvia. I am not a crier, but I leaked a little today.
As a Canadian, as a music lover, I was devastated by the loss of Gord Downie. Sure I expected it, but it's still a shock. Nothing ever prepares me for loss. It always sucks.
The Hip have produced decades of solid music. The first time I saw them live I was sixteen.
They were in Toronto at MuchMusic (back when the channel actually played music) for an intimate and interactive show. They played right out front on Queen St. It was a tight set. Gord's passion rang through with every note, and his lyrics resonated in the deep places of my soul.
At home or abroad, The Hip have been the soundtrack of my Canada Day celebrations for years and years. Distinctive sound and poetic genius. I have loved their music for a long time.
I am sad. I'm really very sad.
Thanks, Kimberley for sharing your thoughts and experience. I never saw them live but I knew their music already when I was still living in Germany and this is almost 17 years ago.
So, who cares when they never broke through in the States, they were known in Europe for sure. :)
A true legend. I went to a Hip concert a few years back, amazing. He will definitely be missed by all of Canada and the entire world as he has touched a lot of people.
That's awesome, Kyle I personally had never the opportunity to see them live but I knew their music when I was still living in Germany. :)
