My Journey to Wealthy Affiliate and How I Overcame the Obstacles

Hey there!

"The best story is your story," people say. I hope my story will encourage many of you here. I am writing it because written words are better than unspoken words.

The time has come to tell my story. I've been with Wealthy Affiliate since 2015. I can't believe it, but next year in March will be 6 years.

In 2014, I felt I needed to leave my work. I worked for a Christian organization and I liked it there. We lived like in our own bubble. Every day was a great fellowship and I met awesome people from all over the world. I still keep in touch with many of them. But one day I felt I had to leave that bubble, and start exploring something new.

When new is coming into my life, it's usually during Christmas time. I can't figure it out why, but it had become the pattern of my life. :)

Scammers Will Always Find You

So, I started searching through the internet. I came across an advertisement that was talking about passive income, great rewards, etc. I asked a question using a chat, and one guy from the UK contacted me.

I can't call him a scammer. I think he was also searching for opportunities like me. He was very genuine and excited about a great future with great rewards and bonuses. The managers of that company were founders of the well known MLM company. But they decided to create a new one.

He connected me with another man from Spain. That guy was so enthusiastic that I could not resist but paid for my membership.

I'm usually very careful with things like that, but I decided to give it a try.

Also, I did it during my transition time. I did not have a job. I did not know when I was going to have a job. But it did not stop me.

Warning Dream Changed My Direction

I started learning how to do business through their platform. Actually, the training was very good.

After a while, I had a dream. Yes, I have warning dreams. In the dream, there was a guy. He was very nice. He chatted, was very happy but I had a bad feeling about him that he was not genuine. When he left, I opened my purse and there was no debit card in it. It was stolen. I knew that not only my debit card was stolen, but all my money had gone.

When I woke up, I realized I made a huge mistake. Sadly after one month, I could not get a refund. I repented for being so naive and asked God to help me to return my money.

Lost Money Returned

I contacted the MLM company with my good reason - the box with products arrived too late. I contacted the support about the same issue before. Because of this, it helped me to win the case. They agreed to refund all the money. I only needed to send the box back and pay for a postage. The membership was not cheap by the way.

Sometimes late arrival can be for your benefits ;)

MLM Nightmare Led me to Wealthy Affiliate

During "I want my money back" time I also was searching for more information about MLM company and came across one guy who was an "MLM is a Scam" vlogger. In one of his vlog, he mentioned that a very well-known company and he told many cons not to sign up. Then at the end of the video, he recommended watching one guy who knew how to make business online in a legitimate way from scratch. That guy was Nathaniell.

From the Bad to the Best Things

I like this quote, "Sometimes the bad things that happen in our lives put us directly on the path to the best things that will ever happen to us."

That's exactly what happened to me.

That bad path brought me to Wealthy Affiliate. Also, I found a good job. I had lots of things to celebrate in 2015!

After that scam, I did not want to be trapped again. I researched and researched, read all the reviews about WA.

But I felt good about WA and I did not have a warning dream :)

So, I signed up and I am still here.

From the beginning, I decided to go through the whole training in WA. That works best for me. I want to know the whole picture before making small steps. And it helped me a lot.

WA gave me the right direction. The training is very simple and easy to follow and if I have questions, I always find an answer. There are lots people who are willing to help.

Choose Your Niche Fast

For 3 years I was thinking about which niche I wanted. Can you believe it? 3 years!!! I bought one domain name. Then I did not have a clue what to write about. I bought another domain name and then another. Come on! I wasted 3 years!!!

At the end of 2018, my mentor said, "Haly, it's now or never."

So, I decided to move forward by leaving perfection behind. When do you think it happened? Yes, it was on a Christmas day. When everyone celebrated Christmas, I was making my first video, editing it, writing my first blog. I worked the whole night. By 6am I did everything and went to bed happy.

Probably if I watch the first video now, I will laugh. But when I watched it on the 25th of December I was smiling. That was a huge step forward and I felt I did the right thing.

You Can Overcome All the Obsticles

We all have obstacles. Mine were writing content or speaking English to my Youtube subscribers. My perfectionism was standing in the way too.

I would never think I was going to write even a small paragraph of 200 words or being brave enough to put my videos with my face and my voice :)) on Youtube. I had lots of excuses.

English is not my first language. But I overcame that. It's become easier and easier to write content.

I also write for a company I work for. We have emails from our customers saying how encouraging it was. When our clients visit us, they ask who the writer of the articles is. Can you imagine? In the past I would be terrified if somebody told me to write an article.

Do not allow obstacles to stop you. You can do all things. Start living with "I CAN" attitude.

Grow Your Vision

When I look back - before December 24, 2018, I did not have a website, I did not have content, I did not have a video, but I watched WA training, webinars. I had knowledge, but I did not make use of that knowledge.

“Knowledge without action is wastefulness and action without knowledge is foolishness.” — Al-Ghazali.

But since then, I had decided to add action to my knowledge. There were ups and downs. We all are going through difficult times, but I did not give up.

Yes, maybe I want to see bigger results, but one thing which encourages me - I am moving forward. If I did not start in 2018, I would have nothing, and I would never meet amazing people who I became friends with through my YouTube channel, my website, or WA. That is the best reward. When you do good for others, it will come back to you.

Also, a month ago, I launched a new website. Why not? What am I losing?

Also, another thing to celebrate - Today I've received an email from Ezoic. They approved my application to use Ezoic monetization features. A new step and a new thing to learn :)

You can do it too. You take a small step at a time, then another small step and in 2 years you will be way ahead of others who said it would not work.

In the beginning, you might not have a clear vision. I did not. But when you start building you will know what your next step is. When you build, you will see what is working or what is not.

Start building your business and with it your vision will grow too!

My Final Thoughts

Maybe you are new and feel discouraged. Maybe you have been here for a while and have not started yet. Today is your day! Today you can change your situation! Do not wait for tomorrow!

Wealthy Affiliate has got all the resources you need, all the help you need. Do not be discouraged. Many people are waiting for you to launch your website. Start today and you will never regret it.
