So You Don't Have a Plan B!

If Plan A is not working, do you have a Plan B? Just think for a moment before you answer the question.

I would guess for the majority of people, they don't even have a Plan A let alone a Plan B! They live life on the basis that something will eventually appear on the horizon to relieve them of their current predicament.

I've known people quit their jobs without having the slightest idea what they were going to do to earn a living, they had no plans in place on what they were going to with their lives.

I'm not just referring to adults in the their twenties or thirties, these were people in the 40/50 age bracket.

We all realize that in our early working lives, we often changed jobs because we couldn't decide really what we wanted to do in terms of a career.

By the time we are in the age group of 40/50 we least should have a clearer picture of what we want out of life. We may not know how to achieve those wants, but at least should know what they are!

Life has many twists and turns. We set our sights on a goal and work very hard to get it, then all of a sudden it all collapes through no fault of our own.

The job you thought was for life has disappeared because the company went bust.

Your investments have been wiped out on the stock market.

Your property value has plummeted into negative equity.

I could go on.....

It's no good burying your head in the sand and wondering where do I go from here. My answer is Where's your Plan B.

So you don't have a Plan B, and as I mentioned earlier some of us don't even have a Plan A. It's not surprising people live in a complete state of unhappiness and discontentment.

They have no idea where they're are going or what they are doing here, they just drift along and that is supposed to be living.

We all need to map out our lives, what we want from it, where we going - a plan to reach our destination.

Just remember Alice and what the Cheshire Cat says when she is standing and looking at the two roads. In brief he asked her "where do you want to go?" Her response "I don't know." "Then any road will do," he replied. In my profession we took it one step futher. What you are calling Plan B we called contingency planning, the "what if," question.

It's important to know where you want to be and in what time frame :)

I respectfully disagree. There are some of us who live in the moment and do just fine that way. There is no 'one size fits all' way to approach life.
