I want to first start by giving a huge shout-out to one of our amazing WA members, @Roybretton for recommending this awesome and highly-useful Pomodoro technique.

So What is the Pomodoro Technique Anyway?

The Pomodoro technique is a productivity and time management hack that is easy to use and highly-beneficial. It's like having a trusted friend who is watching over your shoulder reminding you that you need to focus on the task at hand and get it done before the buzzer rings. It forces you to push, focus and get stuff done.

I've only tried it for a couple of days and I found it to be so simple and super beneficial that I just had to write about it. Cudos to @Roybretton for his recommendation.

The Struggle is Real

We all know how easy it is for us to get distracted, especially for us affiliate marketers who are running our own businesses and have no one to supervise us. For an employee, it's easy to stay focused when a manager is saying what to do, when to do it, and who will reprimand them for slacking off. But as affiliate marketers, many of us work from home. There's the TV, the bed, the fridge, the mobile phone and even the WA community. It's easy to come here and chat, post comments, write a blog, etc. rather than do that hard task we've been planning to do for the longest while. So how do we stay focused when distractions are tugging away at us for our attention? Enter the Pomodoro technique.

Here Comes the Time Management Hero – The Pomodoro Technique

Using the Pomodoro Technique is quite simple. Here are the tools you’d need – a stopwatch. That’s it. Nothing else. And everyone who has a mobile phone, be it iPhone or Android, has a clock app that contains a stopwatch feature.

Set your stopwatch for 20, 25, or 30 minutes. It could be more or less, depending on the nature of the task you have at hand. If it’s a long task, break it up into chunks of 25 to 30 minutes at a time. Remove all distractions. Once you set that timer do not do anything else, except what you set out to do. No phone calls. No emails. No Instagram or Tik Tok. And yes, no Wealthy Affiliate engagement. Not until that buzzer rings. Then you can take a short 5-minute break to do whatever you want. After your break, come back to the stopwatch and reset your timer and go again. Rinse and repeat as many times as you want. After about 3 or 4 Pomodoros, take a longer break (15-minutes) and start the process again until you’ve achieved your goals for the day.

For example, I set 20 minutes to complete this blog post. (Which is my long break, by the way, in between Pomodoros). And when that buzzer goes off (I have 4 minutes left), this blog ends and I’ll move on to the main event. This is the distraction. LOL.

So there you have it. Pomodoro equals short intervals of focused and timed activity followed by a very short break, repeating the cycle until you achieve your goals.

Hope this helps. As I said, I’ve only used it for a couple days now, but I’ve seen the benefits. It’s like you’re running a race and you’re putting pressure on yourself to finish before the timer goes off.

30-seconds left. The end. Post!

By Busienss in WA is the best, experiences, I'm the Director, I'm the manager of my tome and tasks,
I'm the supervisor for myself, and I'm the employer myself in freedom and time, very peaceful and easily to handle,

This also lessen my pressure from commanders and ' controllers of my mind and business,

great article Kevon, realities measured here,

Hey Kevon, thanks for sharing this super effective technique! I've been using the Pomodoro technique for several years now and I highly recommend it. It takes a moment to get used to it and stick to it but it's absolutely worth building that habit. I can keep my focus a lot better for a longer time, and the clear time frame of 25 minutes makes it easy for me to delay distractions (like getting that cup of coffee) until the 5 minute break. And a 5 minute break isn't that short after all. Sometimes it can even feel pretty long:-)
As I said before: I highly recommend to try it out!

This is an interesting post and something that I believe is worth a try. It might be something I could adapt to my style of working. I don't have so much of a problem with distractions; I habitually tune everything out when working. I have a problem with getting or continuing the motivation at times.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Believe me, trying the beat the buzzer on the timer is a great way to motivate you to complete a task. For instance, if you estimate that a task will take you 1 hour. Then set the timer for 1 hour and see if you could beat the timer. It becomes a competition. And who doesn't like to win?

It’s a helpful strategy worth a try indeed! But ultimately, we have to find whatever resonates for our own rhythm. Nice post!

Susan

Correct Susan. Pomodoro might work for you or it might not. Find your groove!

Cheers

This is a very interesting method I never heard of this before I do get distracted easily I think this will help me.

Thank You for the post

Sure Francis. Any time. It's super simple. Now I only comment and chat on WA during my 5 minute breaks. Focusing on business during my 25-minute Pomodoro. I find myself getting distracted here on WA a lot. Some of it is good. But sometimes it's not 100% time well spent, if you know what I mean.

Cheers

Kevon
