Forget Perfection. Focus on Uniqueness.

Hey WA family. Kevon here.

I thought I'd share a very important lesson I learned; one that could be of useful. If there's one thing you learn from me and it's this, then my job here is done.

I've been on a journey of highs and lows in my business. And today, I want to share this crucial lesson I've learned along the way. It's about the dangers of the pursuit of perfection versus the liberating power of your uniqueness.

For the longest time, perfection was my weakness disguised as "research". As an analyst by trade, my instinct was to gather, dissect, and understand every shred of information about a topic or niche before making a move. This approach, while thorough, was also something that held me back from reaching my goals faster. Projects that should have taken a week stretched into a month or more. Ones that should take a few months, took over a year. There are even projects that I've spent months on and still haven't launched. Why? Because I was obsessed with getting everything right from the get-go.

The quest for perfection was a roadblock, one that kept me stand-still while opportunities passed me by. I realized I had to change, to shift from a mindset of perfection to one of action. It wasn't easy, but necessity is the mother of invention, or in my case, reinvention.

I started setting strict timelines for myself. If a task was estimated to take 30 minutes, I'd push myself to complete it within that time frame. This practice wasn't just about time management; it was about teaching myself to be comfortable with the uncomfortable, to accept that an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) was enough to launch. The idea was to get out of my own way, to prioritize progress over perfection.

But the challenges didn't stop there. In the past, I found myself held back because of comparison. Observing the top performers in my niche was initially a learning strategy, but it quickly transformed into a self-destructive habit. The more I compared, the more disillusioned I became with my own progress. It was a fast track to frustration and, ultimately, despair. I wanted to be so good, just like them, that I forgot one important competitive strength that I possessed - ME. There is no one out there like me and once I put my own uniqueness into my business then the competitors cannot replicate that. Sure they would have their strengths. But guess what? So do I.

The turning point came when I recognized that this comparison was not just unhelpful; it was detrimental. It dawned on me that the key wasn't to emulate the success of others but to carve out my own path, to leverage my unique insights and experiences. The goal shifted from trying to replicate someone else's success to creating my own definition of success.

This journey taught me that perfection is an illusion. The real magic happens when you embrace your uniqueness; when you understand that your value lies in your individuality, not in your ability to mirror someone else's achievements.

So, to any of you here at WA who are wrestling with the false advertisement of perfection, remember this: Perfection is a direction, not a destination. It's about striving to be better, not flawless. Embrace your uniqueness, your quirks, your idiosyncrasies, and yes, your mistakes too. They are your true strengths, the things that set you apart in a world of replicas. Forget perfection. Focus on being uniquely you, and watch as the world opens up in ways you never imagined.

So, what has been your experience? What's your unique approach to overcoming the perfection trap in your personal or professional life? Share your stories and strategies in the comments below. Let's inspire each other to embrace our uniqueness and make progress, one imperfect step at a time.

Much love and respect my fellow WA community members and have a productive week ahead.

Cheers

Exactly the same with me, fears of not been perfect with the platform in systems of Wealthy Affiliate, in IT and technical areas drove me away in 2029,
Dreams and passion of my goals in WA brings me back in 2023.

More trainings and learning from my friends in WA and co-founders broke the Ice Burge, encourage me to move on regardless of what is Infront, as the saying goes, only the stronger gets going...
with this remark, I support your article appreciated so much this blog,

cheers

Great words from wise men, as you say, feeling in ones shoes is a Humanity value and is fundamental to be in that state as a human being, connection in the invisible world means one in humanity,

To survive in WA, only the stronger gets going no matter what it comes the way, in spirit, passion and mind and hope, nothing is impossible, Will finally reaches the end of the road as mapped i goals of WA.

kind regards,

Hi Kevon

You make some great points! 👍😎

Frank 🎸

Thanks, Frank. I'm not perfect (LOL) but I'm here to help the best I can.

None of us are perfect, Kevon.

All we can do is our best. 😎

Frank 🎸

I have injured several toes stumbling on that quest for perfection.
You have worded it well, and have made good suggestions to overcome
the tendency for perfection that we all have.
Thanks for the share.
Sami

Thank Sami.

Glad that you find some inspiration and lessons from this post.

Cheers

Thank you. Kevon! I am fairly new at this and I have read a few of these stories of "don't try to be perfect". This is a great message!

I become more impressed with this community every day!

Thanks again, Kevon!

Thanks Tim,

Yes. WA is a community of gold. You'd find great tools, amazing training, but most of all helpful and friendly people willing to offer genuine advice. And money can't buy that.

That is an excellent read Kevon! I used to strive for perfection in many aspects of life until I realized that it doesn't exist!

We should not waste time trying to be perfect, instead we must do our best in all that we do, put our own unique experiences in there and move on without wasting time!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend my friend!

Thanks Jessie. Perfection doesn't exist. In the movie, Prometheus, one line stuck with me to this day, "God does not create in straight lines".

No it doesn't my friend and that is a great line!
