It’s beginning to get frustrating.
Hi guys,
Not posted for sometime now, but thought I’d give you one of my down days, I’m normally a positive person and I believe that all emotions are valid, not just the good. If you didn’t have bad you wouldn’t have good, they’d just be days.
Anyway, with all this going off around the world and Financial Times becoming tight, it’s been hard to not focus on the fact that my blog is making £0.
I’ve been posting for just over 5 month now, it’s been a struggle to post as often as I do with a full time job, overtime, a child and a partner that wants my attention when I see her.
This hasn’t stopped me posting a good 113 posts though, it’s been 5 a week since I started and I haven’t stopped. But it is getting to me now as I see people succeeding and making money after 3 - 4 month and I still feel like I’m posting to a brick wall as my view time is 0.11 seconds.
All this is getting me down, it’s an uphill battle but I keep going because I remember why I started and if I quit now, it’ll all be for nothing, although it is tough Mentally to not give in.

Was just about to reply and then saw Kyle had written pretty much what I was going to say. Sounds like you need to get some feedback on your website and a little bit of analysis. Also the niche you are in can have an impact. What Niche are you targeting?
It’s a modified / stanced car niche, quite targeted and very opinionated at times, I’ve forgot how to ask for feedback haha.

Yeah he's the very best person to give you that feedback. My experience and very small milestone and successes have come from amazon affiliating. I have just yesterday earned my first £50.00 actual real money in the bank!
Yeah defo get feedback from a variety of members. I'll take a look too. I'm not an expert or anything, but will offer a humble option as a visitor.

Congratulations on your £50!! That’s impressive, I’ve done Amazon myself, it’s easy to link and you can use any product.
Hopefully someone will pinpoint my issue, maybe it is around the corner, maybe it is something simple, maybe it’s just a really competitive niche?

Ok the amount of work you have put into your site is evident. But I am sure there is a lot of competition in this niche? My site is a really simple Amazon affiliate site, so I don't know with more fact and community sites how they fair money wise?.
I think you have a lot of content which gives great information, It would be interesting to see how that ranks in google and yahoo? Because if you are writing all this content but it is ranking low, nobody is coming to read it, which is a shame. What I would then say is start monetising your blogs that rank high.
I noticed you have adsense maybe set up, but there were no ads showing?
I also noticed you had done some reviews which refer to products on amazon. Check on your amazon affiliate account, how many clicks you are getting. I check my affiliate stats daily.
Maybe diversify your affiliate companies and write reviews and top 5's and ten products. Your shop idea is great but I think you need to add a lot more products. Think from the point of view of a reader. You obviously have the passion and knowledge you just need to now think, what would you want to buy? then target that.

Yes I feared it might be the niche, I’m doing a lot of networking along side other companies in the car scene and it’s helping push my in the right direction, I just need more stamina.
Thankyou, I like to think I’m knowledgeable about cars and such. But I don’t think I’m ranking at all right now, played with site rank and it says I ranked. So maybe google still isn’t ranking me yet, it’s probably too early to say.
I did have Adsense, but I took it down to create my own custom ads. That might be where I’m going wrong.
I’ve used more than Amazon for top 5’s and 10’s, the shop was a stroke of genius, but adding to it does take a lot of time, I need to get cracked on and build it up.
I check my programs daily too to see how I’m getting on and it really does vary. Some days I’ve had 20 clicks and others 1 or 2.
It’s probably all down to not ranking yet and to have a bit more patience
Yeah, the ranking is a long game. It has taken 10 months for my site to see higher rankings, and even then I am coming in on page 2 and below. Getting any clicks is a great achievement!. I think give yourself some credit and time. you have the foundation now you just need to build on it. Continue with the shop. AdSense is a nightmare and I too changed it to more custom adds. Source new affiliates or ways to monetise your fact blogs. And above all keep up with posting great content. xx

I think you’re right, I’ve been a bit hard on myself and I do need to relax and step back and see what I’ve accomplished rather than stress, it all comes in the end.
Adsense just looked bad on my site, I really like the idea of building my own custom links, just looks classier.
I’ll spend some more time on the shop and add more and more products and fill it up to make it look more of a shop.

I know the feeling. Sometimes a little positive (small sale) means more than it looks like if you don't know what is going on. Keep swinging you'll get there.

Thanks Byron, not willing to throw in any towels in just yet and I am still throwing it out there to the world, but it’s starting to feel like a slug now, the work is feeling hard when it used to be a joy, could be the current pandemic, could be my own mind playing tricks, either way, I’m struggling.

How much traffic are you getting? Are you seeing an improvement within your rankings?
You should certainly be seeing a decent amount of traffic at this point with that much content, but it might be something that you are doing (and minor) that could be adversely impacting you.
What is your website URL, where are you landing in Google with your new content, and what sort of traffic are you seeing. Let us know and we can give you some feedback here as a community.

Traffic is about 30 - 50 page views a day, still getting click throughs, but it still seems a bit low.

Well do you have google analytics and search console set-up? What are your top traffic pages currently on your website?
Have you been tracking any of your rankings through SiteRank? If so, where are you finding that your website is ranking with new content you publish.
As for keywords, what criteria are you utilizing when choosing keywords?
Yeah I have analytics setup, think I have search console, not sure. Currently it’s a review page for BOTB.

It’s a bit of a kicker when there are those that succeed around you and you feel a little like it’ll never happen, but like you say, they are the exception, they could have picked the right niche, the right product at the right time.
So no stress, I’m pretty much calmed down now and back on track. Working on post number 3 for the week.
