I think it was Kyle who said on this site that "any site can be profitable" - or words to that effect. With that in-mind, I decided on two niches fairly quickly - swimming and internet marketing.

Choices Made

I chose swimming because:

  • it's an activity I enjoy
  • I'm an intermediate swimmer now and I like being able to give advice, support and encouragement to those just beginning

I chose internet marketing (even though it's a mega-niche) because:

  • there is a lot of scope for monetisation
  • it's something that all of us in the WA family are involved in
  • there are lots of opportunities for discovering the most effective sub-niches in IM
  • I hope to be able to leverage my skills and experience as an IT Business Analyst to provide a different perspective on the processes involved
  • and last, but not least, I have a huge amount of PLR material in the IM mega-niche that is as yet unused

Site Statuses

So, to date, I have created a sub-domain on siterubix (swimwithconfidence.siterubix.com) and added compliance pages (privacy, contact, affiliate disclosure, etc.) plus an About Me page. However, after going through some of the training and discovering that stand-alone domains stand a better chance of being ranked, I have purchased two domains (swim-with-confidence.co.uk and internet-marketing-simplified.com). These are now built and listed on my profile page.

Also on my profile page are two other domains that I've had for a while now - bluesguitarstudent.com and howtogetapilotslicence.com. These are hosted elsewhere (for reasons that I'll explain) and neither have received much in the way of traffic.

Likes and (Minor) Issues

One of the things that I like about domains hosted on WA is the availability of a dashboard providing an overview of the state of those domains as well as easy admin access. There is one issue to address and that is the fact that I am unable to validate the licence to a theme I want to use (from Thrive Themes). I also cannot get a key for the WordFence plugin, although I probably do not need it for WA hosted sites because there is quite a lot of security monitoring already in place. Anyway, I will retain some sites on other hosts for the time being as well as seeing if there is a way I can perform some restricted licence activations.

Goals

Prior to my next report, I want to have achieved the following:

  • resolved the theme licencing issue
  • added at least 6 posts to each of my WA-hosted sites
  • obtained feedback on the 4 sites listed on my profile page
  • put a strategy for traffic generation and list building in place

Indeed busy. And your sites names look great to me. Jovo

Many thanks Jovo. I've still got a way to go to catch up with your monetisation and traffic though. Kelvin
