CEO or Entrepreneur or Both?

What does it feel like to be your own going concern in developing and building your very own on-line biz to scale and to reach success within your grasp?
Well it takes getting outta one's comfort zone, that's for sure!
I've been doing some reading! ... an avid reader as most of you now know ... just a true 'curious georgette' that my friends have come to love and cherish as I'm there to give 'em all the latest and greatest about news 'n stuff !
Would it be ok to just stroll through the off-line world for a moment?
Well, as I plowed through some World Economic Forum news of their latest research, I happened across a vibrant, young CEO by the name of Claudia Vergueiro Massei, who is currently the CEO of Siemens, Oman.
Her story is one of overcoming institutional barriers despite her impressive educational credentials in still very much a man's world of engineering and management.
What's interesting to note is that gender salary disparity exists widely across the world and the World Economic Forum forecasted that for wage parity to come into being: it would take Western Europe 61 years to arrive at pay equity, North America would take a shameful 165 years to reach parity, and the World average comes to 108 years.
From the looks of it, Western Europe wins hands down on this -- but 61 years to reach parity?
Get real is what I'd say to that -- we're running into the year 2020 for pity's sake!
The meaning of the numbers signifies that it would be almost 'never!'
Do you know why that is?
Because organizationally, the highest salary actuality occurred in the year 2007.
We have not seen salaries rise much since then, given all factors being equal and it is now the year 2019.
All to say, being here learning and building your own on-line biz is really the WAy to go!

Anyway, back to Claudia and here's a couple of quotes from her that I thought would be fitting to share with you today:

Yes, 2020 is around the corner and gender pay disparity will still be looming, unbelievably!
Indeed, comfort zones are ok for a while but they’re static...Blazing trails are not done in comfort zones.

While we talk equality from a political correctness perspective, the reality is the whole is full of inequality. When you are your own boss, you will not be impressed with titles, whether it is CEO or otherwise. As your own boss, you are focused on results and deliverables. Therefore, to achieve all that, you are the CEO, CFO, content manager, sales person, coffee maker etc...

Some companies here in the UK are slow to recognise male female parity, others are thankfully right there and on it. I am lucky to work for an organisation who not only recognise Male and Female equality but also diversity. That in itself is a huge distinction. The governor of our (male) prison is a female and her team below are 50/50 male female, black white, and a large percentage of staff are happy to say they are gay... In a prison that is huge.... but we do live in Brighton the capital of the LGBTQ community in Europe.. :)

This 'disparity' must be 'trending' at present, it should trend all the time unitl it is levelled up. I mention that, as I heard it discussed yesterday on the wireless (so much better than DAB Receiver). Over here (UK) I think they said is was just under 9% for full-time but if you add in part-time then the figure rockets ,out of pocket, to 17%.
We need to drag ourselves into the here and now, rapido.

Ah-- salary disparity within organised institutions of all kinds still seem to exist and it's likely worsening from the looks of it or is it getting better -- dunno -- did a salary disparity study back last century during my advanced studies and frankly when I read the stats of today -- (only head shakes!) ....
Leveling up isn't likely to happen within corporate entities.
Flattening perhaps may occur before.
OR something else will evolve and morph and come into being.
Talk about this awesome platform for instance.
