How Much Am I Paid to be an Ambassador?

In the last week, several people have emailed me, Skyped me, or send me a private message to ask how much I am paid to be an ambassador for Wealthy Affiliate's. I have had other comments asking how you put yourself forward as an ambassador. I suppose that is pretty reasonable as I am the newest ambassador! I also commented on a blog here where there was another comment which said my rank is over 800 and I don't know what to do about it.

Because Miss Marple here, is supersmart I conclude from this that a lot of people are not getting the connection between rank, ambassadorship and also administration. In the past I have received private messages from people who think they are being penalised, told off or praised by the administration i.e. an ambassador.

Let's address the administration point - none of us are really official we are not moderators of this forum. The weight of an ambassador's comment is no greater than many other people. Wealthy Affiliate's has many people who assist others some are in the top 200 and a few aren't.We can't tell you off, officially or otherwise! Only Kyle and Carson have an official capacity as co-owners.

The role of Ambassador is unpaid, at least in terms of money. It is not a position you apply for. It is awarded to you as a result of many things which I suppose I'd up to being the most active in the community.

The algorithm which governs this takes into account how helpful you are, how responsive you are to other people's questions and comments and how creative you are in terms of creating training.In the past there has been a fair amount of arguing about ambassadorial roles, who deserves them and who doesn't!

Whilst I am not in any way commenting on anyone's right to be ambassador, I don't envy either Kyle or Carson the job of working out an algorithm. It almost impossible to do, as you can see we are a huge community at different levels of learning and we all learn at different paces in different ways. We have all heard the expression "One man's meat is another man's poison" or "One man's terrorist is another man's statesman".

There are clearly going to be changes in the New Year which Carson hinted at here

Kyle and I are working hard behind the scenes to improve ambassadorship and better define what it means to be an ambassador. That said, contributions to the community come in many forms and the community decides what content they like and what they find helpful based on their interactions with it. Ambassadorship is not a Volume metric, it's based on how folks interact and engage within the community.

We have big plans for the Ambassadorship program in 2015 and we have been working on many things that we think will help improve our algorithms for determining the most helpful people in the community".

So what reward do you get for being an ambassador?

Well there are 25 ambassadors and I can only speak for one of them. I enjoy helping people (they may not enjoy it), and I would do. That because in itself it is my reward. However, there are only so many people I can mentor full-time and I've set that figure at eight which really should be six but that is another story entirely.

I cannot be the only person to feel that, Leo has said much the same thing!

Ambassadors used to be people who successfully promoted wealthy affiliate's. That is no longer the case as the official view

Ambassador has nothing to do with Vegas, the only way to make Vegas is through the WA Affiliate Program (and attend our super affiliate conference).

Ambassadorship is your rank within the system and we periodically send "goodies" out to our top ambassadors. Hope this clarifies for you Terea. :)"

So in conclusion, the role of Ambassador will continue to evolve as does everything in Wealthy Affiliate's! 2015 will be another fabulous year and if it goes to plan it will be the best yet.

Don't forget it is your community, self praise is no recommendation, but we are all part of this community and we all contribute to its success. As a community member whether you have just joined 10 seconds ago, or whether you are an ambassador, or a lurker, or a shirker or anything else in between then you have a right to have a say in this wonderful, vibrant esoteric community. It doesn't have to be about being an ambassador although those comments will be given as much consideration as any other. It's about deciding what you want here in terms of the community, in terms of the training and anything else.
