When it rains . . .

I love the rain...except when I am trying to run a garage sale in my yard and everything gets soaking wet!

But, I wanted to talk about rain in relation to our affiliate marketing business and why rain is an asset!

I grew up on a farm and as farmers who grew not only crops for our animals, but also as cash crops, the value of rain could not be overstated. Of course, too much rain was a problem, too. It takes a balance of rain and sunshine for the best production.

It is the same in our business.

How so?

Well, think about it for just a moment.

Did you think about it? Good!

Well, when I thought about it, here is what I came up with:

1. We have to water (rain) our business. Water in this case could be the actions we take to grow our business. Without action (rain) what happens to our business (crop)? NOTHING! It will shrivel and not produce anything and in all likelihood, it will die.
2. Without storms (rain), there would be no flowers (production).

As far as sunshine, most crops (and businesses) require a healthy dose of heat to really make things grow!

Take corn, for example. Corn needs rain, but it also needs sunshine and heat to grow. Corn converts sunshine and heat into energy and that is required for growth! In Minnesota, where I currently live, corn is a crop that is fed to the cattle and used as a cash crop for human food as well as other things. Because we have a relatively short growing season in Minnesota, a balance of rain and shine make the corn grow fine!

So the next time you start to feel sad about the rain, just remember that it isn't just the sunny days that make our businesses grow but a combination of heat, rain and lots of activity (mostly unseen at first) to make the crops and the businesses grow!
