How you do anything is how you do everything

In addition to the many affiliate marketing pursuits that I engage in, I am also a Network Marketer.
One of the things I have heard a lot lately in our trainings is this phrase, "How you do anything is how you do everything." I wanted to break that down for a minute because it really makes a lot of sense.
When you think about how you do the things you do, you may not actually give them much thought. I know I usually don't. I don't think about the impacts or the reactions of others based on what I do or do not do.
But when you think about it from the perspective of "how I do anything is how I do everything," your ideas might just change a bit.
Let me give you an example...
How I Get Dressed

Okay. So this may not be the best example, but then again, it might be the best example of the statement than anything else I could give you.
Think about it...
Let's say I get up and I decide I am not going to do the things that I would normally do to show that I care about my appearance. I don't comb my hair or apply make-up or even get dressed. I just don't really care how I look, so I am not going to do anything else than just get up and go.

Well, do you think that if I want to make a positive impression on anyone, I will do that?
Undoubtedly, I will be making an impression, but I assume most people are not going to pay much attention to me, at least not in a positive way.
If I want to make a positive impression, I have to at least pretend like I care about how I look.
It's the same if I want to do anything else. If I only do things half-heartedly, it is going to show in everything (or almost anything) that I do.
Now there are days when I go out without putting on makeup. I will also go out with a t-shirt on when I could have made a better choice.
How we present ourselves is important. I didn't realize it much in the past, but I am seeing it more and more: How I do anything is how I do everything.
How Do You Do Things?

I know that I personally am being more mindful of what and how I do anything, because whether we believe it or not, people are watching us, especially if we are promoting products.
When we put ourselves out there, we need to be mindful of what we do and what we say, and be very intentional about the words we use—whether written or spoken. Why? Because they matter.
I know this because I am not always very intentional about my words. I will throw out comments that could be hurtful, even though I might think they are funny. The person/people we are talking with might even laugh, but that does not mean they are not hurt or confused by what we say.
The Bottom Line

Be mindful, because how you do anything is how you do everything.
Have a wonderful weekend!
