The Greatest Salesman in the World.

I believe I mentioned this in a previous post, or perhaps it was in a reply to someone on one of my posts, but I am reading a great little book titled "The Greatest Salesman in the World" by Og Mandino.

I have never read a book like this before or in such a way as I am reading this book. The instructions on how to read it are very clear, and there is a reason for the seeming "madness" of the way one is instructed to read this little book.

Let me explain...

How to Read This Book

The first 7 chapters are pretty much your standard way of reading any book. You read each chapter from start to finish one time and move on to the next chapter. (The image above shows the book much longer and larger than it actually is. Let's assume ChatGPT, which created the image, did so as a large print book because it is not this big!)

When I began to read the story, which is actually interesting and is told as a story, it was an easy read. I read chapters 1-7 in probably less than 1/2 hour. The chapters are short and easy to understand and follow. The characters are believable, and even though we don't delve into them deeply, we get an understanding of them, and they are likable!

The tale leads us along a path toward a greater understanding of how the main character developed into who he became.

In chapter 8, the tale takes a turn...

Chapter 8 is Where Everything Begins to Change

Chapter 8 is basically the "instructions" for reading the rest of the book. This is The Scroll Marked 1.

It begins: "Today I begin a new life."

I will not reveal the details because I really encourage everyone to read this book and follow the instructions of Chapter 8 as you go through the remainder of the book.

I have not read ahead, as I believe it is in the instructions.

Chapter 8 is probably a bit longer than the other chapters, most of which can be read in 6-8 minutes (at least at my reading speed!).

Chapter 9: The Scroll Marked 2

This one is all about love.
"I will greet this day with love in my heart."

As you read it, you will get to know this phrase quite well!

Starting with Chapter 9, you will begin reading each chapter 3 times each day for 30 (31) days.

I typically read the first time in the morning after I get up. I read it will I walk in place and get my body moving for the day!

The second reading I do after lunch.

The first two readings are read to yourself.

The third reading, which I usually do right before I go to bed, is read out loud. I do this reading, again, while walking in place to kind of wind my body down after a day of work or whatever I was doing throughout the day.

I have even taken to listening to the author, Og Mandino, read the scroll that I am on while I take a walk sometime during the day. (You can find the scrolls read by Mandino for free on YouTube.)

Doing these exercises, the reading, not necessarily the walking in place, sets my intention for the day as well as grounds me when I am getting ready for sleeping.

I read this chapter every day, three times a day, through October.

Chapter 10: The Scroll Marked 3

"I will persist until I succeed."

This is where I am in my reading now. I have been reading this chapter a minimum of 3 times each day since the beginning of November.

As the first sentence of this section reveals, it is about being persistent until we succeed.

That can be difficult. Especially when we don't see results as quickly as we hope.

I think this is my favorite chapter so far! It is about not giving up even after many others have. That is the key—continuing to try and try and try again until we succeed.

What I Am Getting Out of This So Far

At first, reading the chapters three times a day was a cumbersome task which seemed to be a big waste of my time! I told myself, "I don't have time for this nonsense!"

I may not have had time for it, but I made time for it. And it has been making a difference for me!

It has been connecting me to the fact that we are not doing the things we do for our businesses for ourselves alone. We are doing them for others as well as for ourselves.

I saw this especially in Chapter 9, where it talked about greeting this day with love in our hearts.

We are doing this for connection. We are doing this to "build" a business.

In Network Marketing, we build people, and people build the business. Without building ourselves through personal development, we can lay the "bricks" of our business one by one, but it is the personal development that holds those bricks together.

I see that reading this book and these chapters repeatedly is creating a firm foundation for me to build upon.

If you have not read this book, I really recommend it. It can be a "game-changer," in my opinion. Even though it takes several months to read, it will get the job done by building up a strong person to do Network as well as Affiliate Marketing.

There are 18 chapters, and ten of them are the scrolls which we read each for 30 days (except scroll one, which is the instructions).

I cannot tell you what the other scrolls are about because I do not know. And I will say no more about them because I would seriously like you all to consider reading this book and taking its message to heart!
