Living simpler . . .

I have been hosting a garage sale for the past two weekends as I am getting ready to sell my house and move in the next week.

I never really thought of myself as a hoarder, but I am honestly starting to believe that I might be one...

I have things that I have kept for the past 20-30 years that I didn't even remember I had! I built pathways around things in the house because I had to "keep that one tote of things" or that random "collectible!"

Like our lives, our businesses can get too cluttered. We keep things that should be sold or just thrown out. We hang onto things for sentimental reasons or whatever reason or even for no reason whatsoever.

Perhaps that post, that is taking up valuable digital real estate, is one we are proud of, but unless it is productive for us and our business, we probably need to delete it.

Unless we are selling something that requires extensive photographic representation, a photo or two or three should suffice. Unless the photo or illustration enhances or adds to the story, delete it. Why take up the space and perhaps even slow your download with pointless photos?

I used to think that every bullet point or headline needed a photo. No. Just no. They don't.

As I am figuring out how to simplify my home and my life, I am also figuring out how to simplify my business.

Keeping things simple can make things a whole lot easier than having to create "paths" to go around everything!

Let's keep it simple and make our businesses and our lives a whole lot less cluttered!

Best wishes for a great weekend!

Karin

It really is so good to hear from you again, Karin, and I am glad to hear that you have been keeping busy with the move and organizing on what things to keep while making more room for important things which is great. :)

Giving you my best wishes on your move and your success! 🤞🙏

Thanks, Myra. I am still moving, but the plans have changed somewhat. I am thinking of getting a camper van and whatever fits goes with me! Whatever doesn't does not go with me!

I may rent a storage unit and split it four ways with three other people so there might be a few things I can keep here should I ever decide to come back this direction.

But... I guess if I don't feel the need to have it with me, do I really need it at all? That's the real question.

I guess I will figure this out soon!

Take care my friend!

It happens but I am sure you will have it all figured out. :)

Thanks, JD. Yes, now with the plans changed, I am on a bit different trajectory, but still moving forward. Still getting my passport and other paperwork that I need, but may live in the States until at least January.

Who knows. But I am keeping my options open~!

👍😁🤗😁👍

We moved last August from a house that we had lived in for over 45 years and it took us a long long time to get it ready for sale. I still found a baby bath - my children are in their 40s! - fish tanks, guinea pig hutches and lots of other things that we had totally forgotten we still had.

And we had so many books!!!!

We now live in a bungalow and are trying hard not to accumulate superfluous things.

That is so smart. I always tell myself I am not going to keep "collecting things" but even though the house will be sold in the next week, I am still hanging on to things! LOL, I guess that is just some humans' nature!

WE did it in stages. It's impossible to part with things suddenly when you've had them for a long time and remember where you got them, who gave them to you and why....

Wishing you all the very best with the sale and the move.

Isabella

It is hard to let go of memories. Good luck with the sale and the move.

Thank you. I appreciate your point that every bullet or heading does not need a photo, or two. So true, in many ways. Thanks.

You're welcome. If we spend a lot of time and space on those extra photos, it can detract from our story/blog. Keeping it simple can be key!
