Just a girl boss building her empire

Sometimes, I have to remind myself why I am at Wealthy Affiliate. Yes, it is to help people. For me that is the number one goal.

But I also have to remember that I am "just a girl boss building my empire." I kind of have to laugh about that because it's been a long time since I've been a girl!

In all seriousness, though, I am here first and foremost to build my empire. This is the legacy I will leave for my grandchildren, especially the one who lives with me. I work at this every day so that I can leave something special for her! I work hard at it so that I can "retire" from the traditional 9 to 5 job and spend more time doing what I love with the people I love.

I bought the notebook that you see in the photo and I keep it out to remind me of why I am doing this.

Sometimes we need reminders to keep us focused. It can be so easy to lose focus these days.

We have social media, and the regular media. We have world events with local consequences.

We have all manner of things happening and bombarding our minds 24 hours a day. It's a wonder anyone at all gets any work done!

The key is focus.

What things do you have that keep you focused on your tasks? Do you create lists or daily/weekly/monthly goals?

I have a book that I decorate with stickers and positive affirmations where I write my goals. It has a spot for daily goals, weekly, monthly and yearly.

There is enough room to write a hundred or so daily goals...If you write small enough! I try to stick with three or four a day.

I also write out weekly goals. What things do I wish to accomplish during a given week? Of course, the daily goals align with the weekly goals so that the daily ones help me reach the weekly goals.

The same goes for the monthly goals. Finally, the yearly goals.

Without the focus of narrowing down the yearly goal, I would have a profoundly difficult time ever reaching it.

Don't be afraid to change

I'll let you in on another little secret. I'm not afraid to change my goals, either.

I am not the best goal maker, sometimes what I think is a good goal, turns out to be, well, not such a good goal. I sometimes think I am some sort of over-achiever and I make unrealistic goals given the time I have to be able to complete them.

I am not afraid to change things if I have to. Sometimes it is the best way—the only way—to keep moving forward!

Be the boss and build that empire

So whether you are a girl boss or a boy boss, keep building your empire. Keep doing what you need and want to do to build the business that you want to build. After all, you are the one that has to do it so it gets done right!
