How to get better at anything

Almost everyone on the planet has the desire to get better at something. Many want to be better in every area of their life from their marriage to raising their children to running a successful business.

If we want to, why don't we?

This morning I heard it said that it is easy to desire to change. It's the easiest thing in the world.

What isn't so easy is SHOWING UP.

We honestly want to do something about our desire to be better at something, but it's hard. Our feelings wane and our desire drifts away when we see the hard work before us. What looks good and exciting and promising on day one isn't so fun when we want to sleep or our legs hurt or we're hungry!

Because choosing a life of growth is hard.

We might say to ourselves, "Let me just finish this other thing first," or "It's raining today, let me wait until it isn't raining," or any number of things that come to mind. And they might be good things that draw us away. But they do draw us away and our desire to be better at something drifts away until the next time we are confronted with the desire to change or get better at something.

We can't wait for the perfect moment because IT NEVER COMES. There will always be something "easier" to do, something "necessary" to do.

Why don't we learn from our mistakes?

Well, it can be for a number of reasons, but the main one is—at least for me—because change is hard. Transformation is hard. We have to lay down who we are and do something we have maybe never done before.

If you keep doing the same mistakes over and over and over and over again, you may need to STOP, LEARN AND CHANGE.

This information has inspired my desire to make some changes in my life, especially on my business.

Some changes I will be making to be better at it will include:

  • Creating a posting schedule say one to two posts per week.
  • Spending more time in the training and extra trainings on specific topics that will help me to do better posts.
  • Learn from my mistakes.
  • Ask questions if I don't know where to find something or how to do something.

What things might you change?

Have a lovely week!

Karen,
You hit the nail on the head. Wanting to do better and be better does require work, and I can be lazy. It is hard work to improve. That is why I have chosen the easy way, just a little at a time! O can do a little.

Thanks for the encouragement this morning.
Sami

Thanks Sami. I am pretty good at wanting to be and do better. Implementation is the hard part. My brain wants things to be instant. It is something I am working on. Step by step. That's the only way that works for me. Usually baby steps.

Have a great day!
