Can reindeer really fly? [How to use real life experiences in your blogs]
Have you ever had the "joy" of listening to a 5 and a 6-year-old debate about whether reindeer can fly? Or how about an argument over who made who cry?
I'm watching one of my other granddaughters this weekend and she and my granddaughter who lives with me like to argue—about everything!
They argue over how many stars are in the sky or who sounds the most like a baby kitten. They argue over who was naughtiest. And who was the nicest. They argue over which words are swear words and who said which one.
I love my granddaughters, but some days they make me feel like plucking the few remaining hairs I have left!
This should not be viewed as a rant of any kind—I am getting some goldmine material for my grand parents blog. However, this grandma is getting tired!
How to use your real life experiences in your blogs
So what does all of that above information have to do with WA and blog writing? Plenty!
Part of what I have learned at Wealthy Affiliate is that people who buy things from our sites want to feel that personal connection with us. What better way to build a connection than with personal stories from our lives?
Yes, the stories should be relevant to our blog posts, but if we are writing about something we are passionate about (our niche) then parts of ourselves will be evident in what we do when we write.
Using the above material in some of my grandparents blog will certainly be relevant to some of my readers. If I throw in a link to a set of Apple Airpods to help give grandparents a little "peace!" then I have tied in affiliate marketing with a blog post that people can relate to. I might even make a sale!
In fact, I am about ready to buy myself a set!
When I read a blog post written by someone else, I not only read it to become informed, but to also get insight into how what I am reading about will better my life.
Most of the time, if we write from our personal experiences, we can give our readers the insight they need to make the informed decision about a product (if that is our aim).
We can gain credibility by sharing from our personal lives because it makes us more human, more approachable and more real to our readers.
What are your thoughts on this?
Best wishes,
Karin

I do like using personal experiences when I can, but it can be challenging. However, personal experience often offers us a good story to pass on, and readers do like stories.
Awesome and insightful...thanks for this.
I will try to find a way to do this more on my website. The MMO niche is not an easy one to do this to...but it is possible.
I wish you the best!

You're in good company, Karin! I have 2 adult daughters who still fight a lot plus a 4 year old grandson who has a mind of his own. I feel ya! Thanks for sharing! Christine
Personal is definitely best. Your grandkids sound like the girls when they were growing up. They argued about everything.
Have a great weekend,
Mickey
Excellent post Karin!
Given the same product at the same price, people will buy from who they like, know and trust.
When you give them a glimpse of the "real you," it allows them to connect with you on a human level. It happens all the time in the brick-and-mortar world. and it works online too!
Thank you for sharing!

personal experiences are part of our learning material and to expose them as anecdotes are fun to read. I write personal anecdotes for my three children, Siri, Chat and Yara. they love to read them and I love to write it for them.
Good post .. we need to remember like we are taught here that we can’t forget that real people are who we are posting to
Thanks for the reminder

Yes. Flying deers are in my dreams often. Even I fly in my dreams. Now, in the measurable world, I am not sure that is part of a deer's capacities. Maybe it is. Dr. Jeffrey
