Adding value to your posts [destroy the box]

The best way to get people to think outside the box is not to create the box in the first place.
~ Martin Cooper

There are many ways to add value to your posts. The first one is to tear down the walls of the box.

What do I mean by that?

Yeah, what do I mean by that? Hmmmmm....

Let's visualize it, shall we?

I suggest using a large open field for destroying that box!

In all seriousness, though, to add value to your posts, sometimes you have to annihilate that "box" that holds in your creativity. That box's walls are made out of fear. The tape that holds it together is your insecurities. The shipping label, that place where your dreams become reality, has a big "return to sender—address unknown" plastered on it.

When you are writing your articles for your website, it is important to think of what VALUE you would want to see if you where reading the post instead of writing it.

Thinking outside of the box can be as simple as that. What value are you giving to your reader? Why should they want to read your post? Would you read your own post?

Ultimately, without value, our posts are just wooden objects that hold up barbed wire that no one will want to come near!

Give value by blowing up that big old box of negatives and pull out the positives.

You can do this in a number of ways:

  • Write like you are talking to someone in person. If you don't use words like "supercalifragilisticexpialadocious" in your every day speech, don't use it in your writing!
  • Write with authority. You write with authority when you have carefully researched your subject or live with it so you can easily talk about it.
  • Don't tell yourself you "can't write." Everyone can write. You may not write very well, but you can write. Have a friend or family member read what you have written if you are nervous about posting it. They don't have to be language majors to know if something sounds good or not. You can also use programs like Grammarly or the Hemingway app to help you with poor grammar. (Here is a link to the training I did on using the Hemingway app https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/how-to-write-using-...).
  • Finally, just write! It doesn't do you any good to fret about whether you can write if you never do it! Just do it, as the famous Nike ad commands.

Hope you all have a great week and find lots of ways to get rid of that box!

Best wishes,
Karin 😁
