Goodbye Heatwave, Hello Autumn

The heatwave has finally ended - hooray! We've gone from temperatures in the mid-90s to below 20C in the space of just 2 weeks.

This is typical British weather.

Today is 17C, windy, with sunny spells. Much more comfortable. I've heard people complaining about summer being over but I'm not grumbling; I prefer cooler weather for all sorts of reasons.

September is one of my favourite months. Although the days are noticeably shorter, the cooler temperatures and rainfall are welcome after suffering through July and August.

I was out walking Luna on Wednesday and it was a beautiful day, mild and sunny with a clear blue sky. Luna ran around and sniffed things, as she likes to do, while I walked slowly, taking in the scenery. The leaves are changing colour, going from bright green to gold, amber and rust. Birds and squirrels are out looking for food to prepare for the coming winter. Bushes are loaded with red and orange berries and there's a smell of wood smoke in the air.

This year has flown by, it seems to go faster every year. At this time of year, I like to relax indoors with a nice cup of coffee or hot chocolate and watch the world go by. Now that I'm not working, my time is my own and you can't put a price on that kind of freedom.

I hope that wherever you are, the weather is being kind to you. When you're out and about, take the time to notice - and appreciate - the signs of autumn around you. There is so much beauty in nature and I am grateful for the changing seasons.

Happy September!

Im from up north a bit Evansville Indiana an its cold up there nine months a year to me .If the weather goes below 70 like 60 or 65 degrees I'm looking for a sweater. It just goes right threw . Although I love the snow. This is why I moved down here to Florida where its warm. Oh, lets not forget I love the beach. p.s. I'm sorry Karen I was about post without saying Hiya, Gal. Peace

The days have become noticeably shorter Karen, I walk my dog at about 6 in the morning and it's now dark when I set off.
It's distinctly autumnal now and this year has indeed flown by.
I do like to see the changing seasons and taking time to notice what's happening in nature.

Me too, there’s so much to appreciate and it’s all around us

I do love the month of September Karen....

It's the longest time of the year until the unbearable heat of June, July and August returns!!

We were still in the low 30's until a couple of days ago here... but today we had a maximum of about 22 which is perfect for me my friend!

2

That's a comfortable temperature. Mid 30's is too much! I've looked up the weather forecast for next week and the temperatures are going to be in the late teens. Sounds perfect. I hope that Monday is a nice day for the Queen's funeral, it would be awful if it rained

By the way, how do I but more credits for website comments?

1

Anything over 30 is too much for me Karen even with a pool to cool off in!

It's going to drop even more here too next week... nice!

I hope that it's a nice day on Monday as well my friend..

2

As for website comments... for each two you give on someone else's site you can request one for your site.

But if you wish to buy credits Karen, then click on your profile picture... scroll down a bit and click on "credit dashboard"...

There you should see the option to buy them ok my friend..

Ok thanks!

You're most welcome!

The weather here is getting cooler. Fall is on the way.

This is a nice time of year, especially in England

Lots of mountains here and the leaves change color, I am not crazy about the winter on the way.

I prefer the summer, Karen...but the cooler days of autumn and the beautiful changing foliage is pretty. I just don't look forward to the dark, dreary rainy colder days coming.

I know what you mean, I hate when it gets dark at about 3 pm and you have to wait ages for the daylight to return. I don't mind the cold, I prefer it to high heat and humidity

Still consistently hot in Tampa Fl !

😎👍

What's the lowest temperature you get in winter Mike? Does it cool down very much?

1

The temps in Tampa FL fall to about the low 50’s and high in the lower 70’s, BUT with low humidity in the winter 70° is cold!

We also have a few days a year were the low will drop into 30’s and we’ll get mild frost.
