Use Data to Track Your Progress

I have just been reading about the benefits of tracking data to achieve your goals. It immediately made me think of the WA systems of tracking Rank, recording posts and the numbers in your network. The statistics that give details of the number of posts in your websites and even the number of words that you have written are very encouraging. I particularly like the statistic that tells you how you rank against other WA members. Mine says that I have published more than 93% of other members on the site. I can't remember when I last got a result that good. My school results were usually way below that.

The suggestions is to use four steps to help track and achieve progress.

  1. Be Conscious of Before and After Results whether it is weight loss, or building your business you will be able to see and appreciate your progress if you can see how far you have come.
  2. Make It A Game. Just like what we have here at WA, Measurement = Motivation
  3. Make It Competitive. Competing against your peers creates that element of rivalry to encourage you to do just a bit more. Another version of this is to create a carrot and stick effect where you can give yourself rewards for gaining ground and then some form of fine system for not achieving your set expectations.
  4. Take Small Steps. Setting achievable goals and tracking your progress by making it measurable, helps your feeling that you are gaining ground.

Just by being here you have done more than many other people who are too afraid to step outside their comfort zones. Now take your hand and put it on your upper back and give yourself a good pat on the back. Good job. I wish you all the best.

Thanks for sharing a good motivational post. Good luck with the rest of the weight. I am a Personal Trainer and Nutritionist if you need any help or questions.

I do Keto and recommend it to all my clients. No diet is perfect, few stand the test of time. We must make lifestyle changes or the weight will come back. Good luck.

Thanks for that. I am actually quite interested in Keto and I do know some people who have used that technique and had great success with it. I will check out your website.

Yes I agree with your suggestion about making lifestyle changes and I know that is the best way to go. Thanks

Great motivational post, Karen--keep'em coming--and most important, keep succeeding!

Thank you, Jeff. It is good to keep the flow going. Sometimes life gets in the way and there are a few gaps but as long as the momentum doesn't stop then we are moving forward.

Very true, Karen!

Good afternoon Karen,

I hope you are joking with those kgs. Because of my websites and everything related to that I sit too much and have put on weight. I am on a fasting cure for 9 days to slim down a bit. Otherwise, I do not know what to wear for Christmas.

Greetings from the south of Spain,
Taetske

Yes, that was a post I saw somewhere, I thought it summed things up quite well with life in general.

I know exactly what you mean about sitting too much and putting on weight. I like the fasting concept as well. Good luck with that.

Great work Karen. It sounds like you have a really good system in place.

Thank you Marijana,

I think my system could be better but I try and keep focused so that there is on going progress.
