Friends, ,I am trying to settle on a theme/design for my new website.

I like the idea of having my home page set to show as my latest posts.

I'm not sure about my current theme though. I like it but I don't know if it is user friendly.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take a look at my webpage and let me know what your thoughts are, specifically on the design and layout.

If you have any thoughts or questions on any of the content feel free to ask as well.

The URL is www.poyserdk.com

I need help am stuck with my homepage. Don't know what to do or say anymore. Need your input.

One thing I would recommend is setting your option strikes and expiration dates apart from the text. Some of them get kind of jumbled in with the the posting date and text. I couldn't find it without looking for it specifically. Maybe change the color so it stood out from the text or something along those lines. I was looking at the channels and trend lines and kept asking myself " what strike prices did he choose to come up with his potential return number?"

Thanks Justin, sounds like you know a lil about options.

I put the positions in bold letters. I will look into using some more contrasting colors.

Some of these articles are long so i think adding more color would help the readability a bit.

is this the article you read?

Any thoughts on the design/layout?

Thanks again

My thoughts on the site

1) More Color. Everything is white. I prefer blue, grey, green, black for professionalism (any of the above). I don't like pink/purple/orange/brown/yellow.

2) Better Navigation. Since you are blending stocks and IM, you will need to help people easily choose where they want to go. Maybe something a bit more flashy like with a paid theme.

3) Better pictures. They are reshaped to fit your slider and thumbnail. If this is caused by changing themes, use the plugin Regenerate Thumbnails to fix it. If not, get some images to match your thumbnail sizes

4) I don't know what getting started will start me on. Again, be specific about what is for stocks and what is for IM, or maybe make it clearer what's going on at your site with a large logo + explanation

I hope this helps to get you started. I really like the idea of blending stocks and IM. My site is about "money" too. I found out too late that I don't know enough about stocks and real estate to really give advice, but I still write about it because I like it. If you use yourself and or money/business ventures as you brand, I don't think you'll have a problem merging them.

When you get your g+ business page set up, let me know and I'll follow it.

nathaniell, thanks for the feedback: Please see my responses below

1 - I changed the background color to black. I was really liking the simplicity of the white but, I have to admit the black looks good.

2 - For better navigation, wouldn't someone know to look at the categories on the right? What if I changed title for this to "browse by category" or something like that? What specifically do you think would "help" with navigation?

3 - The sliders use whatever I set as the featured image for the particular post. Is it the quality of the pic? Or are the pictures just crappy in general? I will look into this one

4 - Maybe I misunderstood the meaning of this page. Since I'm blending several topics (not just stocks and IM) I may consider changing the this title to something else. Thoughts?

Thanks for the feedback!

BTW - what's your site?

My Responses:

1) Black looks much better.

2) I would definitely put those categories in the top menu. I saw them, but it was not obvious that this was the MAIN place I needed to look to find what I want. For the side widget maybe just have archives.

3) Yes, the quality of the pic was an issue. The new slider looks better. Big sliders look nice with hq pics. You can find some for $1 or less on canstockphoto or other places. Maybe have 3 or 4 sticky posts for your slider, and that can save you money by not needing 1 paid picture for each post.

4) Get Started is fine, but I'm not sure what I"m getting started on. From the title of your site, it's not 100% clear what your site is about. What is Poyserdk? It needs to be clearer what this page is and what it has to do with your website. Is it stocks? IM? Money?

I'll PM you my site.

Hi Kamali. I think I would agree with the general consensus about stocks & internet marketing. My advice would be to change the colors on the site or find a theme with different colors. I love websites that visually stimulating. I think the layout is good. But the colors are all very similar and almost blend into each other. You can use different colors to draw your audience's eyes to specific areas (like the colors in your logo!). It can also help add depth and help define the different areas of your site.

Hope that helps = )

Thanks for the feedback, what colors would you suggest?

I'm not sure. Maybe a darker color on the outside (blue, green, orange??) and white or beige in the content area. Technically anything darker than beige would make the content area really stick out. I'm not good at color matching. I just keep playing around until it looks good. You can use your favorite colors to make it more fun and personal.

Here's an example:
This is Tas88's website. http://consciousfertility.org/ The contrast of the green and beige automatically draws your eyes to the text.

Thanks, I will consider the color suggests and see what works. I want to give the site a "simple" nothing too fancy

Not sure how you are tying in stocks to Internet Marketing...to me these two items are separate....stick to one or another....I don't see the connection between the two..

My two cents...

I was thinking of having a site that covered many different topics as that is what I want for my brand.

My goal is to have an authority site that covers a lot of things that might not be related as opposed to a niche site that focuses on one thing.

The site is in the early stages right now so it might still be a lil confusing. But I think once I get more content and topics/categories it will come together.

I've seen a few sites do this and that is actually how I learned about internet marketing. I found a site that suggested Real estate, stock market investing, internet marketing, and a few others as possible sources of income.

Having knowledge on one of the topics made me trust that the guy knew what he was talking about on the others.

Does that make sense? Do you still disagree with this approach for an authority site as opposed to a niche site?

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated! :)

Not saying it wont work...but stocks for extra income....still think it is a bit of a long stretch....stocks are a very risky business....I still think if you are wanting to give Internet marketing advice stick with one thing...I find that they make the site confusing....

Hey this is just my thoughts....good luck in your moving forward....

Valid point and valid concern. I will keep this feedback in mind as I move forward with the site.

fishing, here is an example of the type of site I would like to have. Obviously I am a long way from there.

what are your thoughts on the topics covered by this site? I attached the link to their archives

http://www.moolanomy.com/archives/

Well may I say that is a hell of a goal...that is a bit more than just a normal content site...it is like a mega information site....that is going to take some work for sure...

Not impossible....but seems to be a time thing for sure.....

As long as you don't try to be the expert on all of the subjects....this would be a must to get others involved.....a bit more than guess writing....

For you to be the expert on all subjects would take away creditability for sure....

Good luck....this is a huge goal for sure...

So in general you will be marketing others information on your site....plus your own....and try to get them ranking through an authority site...

My two cents....this seems to be to big of a project...unless you are confident that you have what it takes to get this done....and have the connections....have you experts ready to write for you....????????

I know it's a huge undertaking. I wanted to show an example of sites I've seen focusing on different things that may not be related to each other. Definitely won't happen overnight :)

I've been doing things in the stock market for a while so I have that experience

I've dabbled in real estate and have plans to get back into it, so I have that too.

And i've been learning things about internet marketing from WA and elsewhere so i have that too.

I've done Mystery shopping and online surveys so I have that.

I've reached out to a few site owners and they said it took them a while. It's a big feat but I want to put several niches into an authority site as opposed to spreading myself thin by focusing on several.

i was mainly trying to get feedback on the design of the site...the content has a ways to go.

I already changed the theme so I'm taking all feedback seriously

Hi, I just took a look at your site and I have to agree with Gary that I was completely at a loss for what the purpose of your site is. The title gives a good idea, but there is nothing that guides me as a visitor. I guess I'm saying it's missing flow. An About Me page with info about you might significantly increase your authority and credibility; right now it seems a bit 'spammy.'

The theme itself is actually nicely contrasted and relaxing to view. It would be very clear to read--if it had flow. I hate to seem negative but I believe in giving an honest account as someone randomly viewing your site. Keep up the good work and you'll find what works for you I hope this helps :)

BBUJOL05, thanks for the honest feedback. The site is pretty new so things like the about me page, privacy policy, etc have not been created yet.

My main purpose for soliciting feedback is to see what someone's first thoughts are upon viewing the site.

Thanks for taking the time to view it. Sounds like as much as I like this theme I need a new one :)

Hi Kamal, I am no expert but I did notice that when I first went to your site it was overwhelming as I had no idea what was going on. It all sort of blended together. The mono tone color is partly to blame I believe. I would group your ideas in a more of a single file selection from top to bottom. The content in your site is good but I believe a different theme would work but grouping your blogs in single file might work better. I hope this helps.

Thanks Gary, sadly that was kinda what i was thinking too.

here is another theme I am using on another site, do u think this one is better? or just as bad?

easyoptionstradingstrategies.com

Hi Kamal, Keep trying with that 1 site it will come together. The second site you sent me too the stock options stuff was better I thought. The contrast was good and the flow was better. I agree with BBUJOL05 and you should add a "About Me" page so people can see who you are and about. As far as what I can you have a good start. The Books Page was good but the Leave Comments section was cut off on the left side partially which doesn't look good.

Gary thanks a lot for taking the time to check the site out. I Just added an about me page to the poyserdk and i will be changing the theme.

Much appreciated!
