Finishing Course 2, Status update!
Well its been approximately 2 weeks and I just wanted to share an update as to how the progress is going, how the website is shaping up and how Wealthy Affiliate is measuring up!
When I first signed up, I went through the first course pretty quickly, with WA covering a lot of the topics I was pretty familiar with. I had my niche selected and went straight into hosting my own domain, since the ultimate plan is to learn how to get traffic to my website, I wanted to work on an actual website I owned. Throughout the learning of Course 1, I was getting my wordpress website up and running, installing a few of the critical plugins like a subscriber, social sharing, etc. The niche I picked was Candles, since my wife and I, especially my wife, love candles, I figured this would be an interesting adventure.
After completing Course 1 and getting into Course 2, we started covering a few good tidbits of information that was new to me or explaining some topics that were a bit fuzzy. Of course I was very excited to see this. One of the biggest take aways for me was the "Low hanging fruit" idea. This was an excellent way of showing the whole keyword research and a way of implementing that plan to help bring traffic to your website.
Overall the website is coming along very nicely and every day, I am getting more and more comfortable with Wealthy Affiliate, the community and my overall plan.

Well, course 2 lesson 7 on keyword search really kicked my butt!!! I understood about searching for keywords, but I was getting confused with whether my site name should be a keyword, adding keywords to my posts....it was just a mess! After about 2 months with one domain, I created another and started from scratch....course 1 lesson 1....and I don't regret it for a minute!

I am in course 3 and struggling a bit with adding affiliate links and how I want to incorporate them, but overall still having a blast!
The bad thing is, I have a niche idea every other day and it takes everything I have to stay on course, lol.

Hello Jeff, well done. Course two is the game changer for most of us and contains so much on creating traffic to our websites. One of the subjects if I recall in that course was how to give and receive feedback and comments for our website. I think you will receive far more by doing that than here. You also receive credits for giving feedback that you can use.

You've made terrific progress. The website looks great and just want to add that I really like the social media icons that float down to the right corner as you scroll. Looking forward to seeing your continued progress.

Lol, the funny thing is, I just scrapped the floating icons before I read your post. I saw them on another site and they kind of irritated me, hehehehe.

I liked them because they didn't interfere with what I wanted to read. Sometimes, just like an opt-in drop down box, they are just too "in your face" and intrusive. LOL
I just tok a look at your sie. You're right - it seems to be coming along rather nicely. I look forward to seeing you eventually monetize it and selling some candles direct from some of your pages.

Is your believeyoucandle site still up? I clicked on your link and it said that your site wasn't safe. I clicked on the advance link anyway and it took me to a page advising that I needed to log into my WA account, which I already am so I was a bit confused. I was trying to see what other members sites look like.

I apologzie but I deleted the candle site. There was only so much talking about candles I could do and kind of ran out of gas on that one.
