First week WA - still in doubt.

Hi All,

First of I would like to apologize for being Dutch (really), we are known for being blunt and being very direct.

I just finished about a week here at Wealthy Affiliate and I'm having mixed feelings. Hopefully I can have some motivating feedback :).

I have a feeling a lot of focus is being placed on following others, responding a lot to peoples blogs and comments, writing some blogs and thereby increasing their WA site ranking. Looking at some people in the top 50, I don't see any websites linked and I am starting to wonder whether they are just really active on WA and that they might not even be successful in the actual affiliate marketing business.

In terms of classes, courses and bootcamps I have a feeling they are very much alike but I did not yet go through them thoroughly.. Also my fault as I am very quickly distracted and searching all over the web for gems that might help me get the info I need to become successful. And I do know info is just one part of the process, the actual learning by doing might be way more important and I should stop procrastinating..

I hope I have not offended anyone. I am just interested in your opinions and hopefully you can share some things that I currently might seem to be missing here @ WA..

All the best,

Jeroen

Hi Jeroan.
I understand your doubt, but you can hardly expect to understand how everything works here, in one week.
I have been a member for nearly three years and I am still learning new things every day.
The two most important lessons I have learned in that time are
1. Do the training..that is what you are paying for.
2. Don't spend too much time in distraction...it is unproductive.

The more time you spend away from the training, the longer it will take you to learn how.

PS Our website links are in the right column of our profiles. If a link is not listed there it means the member is either very new and hasn't listed a site yet, or they have a rally successful niche that they don't want others to copy.
Go far Jeroan and Go well from Janelleje

Thanks for the follow. I just went to your profile and read your blog. I actually agree with you. I have been in sales for 30 years and am not a fan of what I call the "Rah.Rah ". A lot of people do need it to stay focused and get a sense of belonging. Kyle and Carson recognize this also. That is why they encourage it. It is for our own good also in the long run. While guys like you and I can focus on whats really important without a lot of fanfare, i.e. making money, some people need the extra help. It could be the difference between keeping a recruit happy and continuing to stay in the system, or quitting. Then they lose opportunity and we lose income. As far as the learning, I don't know how many systems you have tried before this. I have looked at a few. I am no expert and have made no money. The problem is that these other marketers present a bright, shiny new object that looks good. It may be cheap to get in, but to go up in the level of training that you get here for basically free, compared to the other systems, you have to keep paying for upgrade after upgrade to learn something new. In some, your tab may approach $100,000 to make it all the way through. You may as well buy a McDonalds. Then, you are not selling anything but the same information to somebody else you hope has $100000 to spend. With WA, you are learning and selling a concept to make money that you can apply to any business. What you do with it is up to you. Sorry for the long windedness but I am.

I can understand the being blunt thing - being from the UK we are more often than not very cynical (or at least I am).

There are a few people who do seem concerned with raising their rankings in WA without producing useful content or questions (I have seen a few people who just post 'I have nothing to add to this' or 'I see your question has been answered' - which I take to mean that they are just trying to get activity points.) But a lot of other blogs do post some interesting info.

Personally, I found the Get Started Here training to be very good as i had no previous affiliate marketing experience. I did go over some bits a couple of times and I do sometimes re-read some bits of it. However, there is also some pretty awesome training by other members which is not in the certification course and goes into a lot more detail.

For example, some of the stuff by Magistudios https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/magistudios is pretty awesome and goes into way more depth on SEO etc than the standard course. He also does some very good case studies.

I also don't think everyone does link their websites anyhow. Some might be doing quick websites which are only active for a few months or so whilst something is flavour of the month. (eg. when you have a toy of the year before xmas). Others may be using the training to offer their own services (such as those who do SEO work, copywriting etc) and others may be using the marketing skills to sell their own products (eg. those who make jewellery).

Thanks for your response! I will go over the Get Started Here training again and indeed look more in depth for other training courses developed by other members. Thank you for linking to Magistudios, will definitely check it out!

All the best,
Jeroen

Hi Jeroen,
Nice to meet you.
You are right.
Please start learning, follow the course, do the work, stay at it and keep learning more and get the job done!
You either do it or you dont, there is less than 20% people that stay at it and probably about 10% only who really becomes succcessful at IM.
It is your decision.
Believe in yourself and all the best !
Yes, you can do it, because if there is someone who done it before then you can to. :)

Thank you for the motivation! Even though the odds are not in our favor, I'm sure it is indeed possible to succeed as long as you put your mind to it and keep learning.

Jeroen

Yes, you need to keep learning and take action every day or most of the days, people that do not take action FAIL !

Firstly, you need to go through the training step by step to ensure you don't miss anything. Go back over each stage 2 or 3 times if necessary until you completely grasp what you need to learn. There is NO substitute for this, even if you have prior knowledge - you could still have a 'light-bulb' moment where you realize what you have missed somewhere along the line and why you haven't been successful up to this point.

Secondly, ask yourself 'why' - why are you doing this and what do you hope to achieve? What will you feel in a year's time if you give up now? Will you still be thinking 'what if?'

And with regards to those in the top 50 - not all of them will be into affiliate sales and some of them may be selling their own products and services. And whether they are successful in their website or not doesn't mean that they wouldn't make a great life coach or inspirational speaker. We all need a boost from time to time or to understand that others (as well as ourselves,) may be struggling to move forward. So not all of the posts here will be about training and you will find inspiration and motivation, but a lot of people find them to be essential in moving forward.

'Quitters never win and winners never quit.'

I think I've covered all your points, but please let me know if there's something else you would like to know.

Warm regards, Jude.

Dear Jude,

Thank you for the motivating words. I will definitely go through the training step by step. Before starting this journey my wife and I discussed the why, indeed very important to stay motivated!

I surely intent to stay on the winning side!

Thanks again,
Jeroen

The very best of luck on your journey Jeroen, stay in touch! :)

Hi Jeroen,

I have been with WA for 14 months my Friend and I can assure you that there are many of us here who are earning an income online and not just worried about WA rankings.

Thank you for the honest questions and approach as sometimes they are the best method to get to the answers.

Tony

Hi Tony,

Thank you very much for your quick response. I will surely have a better look around for those with experience and try to learn from them (including you :) ).

Jeroen

My pleasure to help when I can Jeroen :)
