The Tedious Effort

I took this picture 8 or so years ago. It's pretty, right? what you don't see about this picture is the effort it took to get it. First of all, this was my second attempt to get it. I convinced my brother and best friend to get up at 230 in the morning to make the hour drive to the trail head. After careful consideration to how long it could take us to hike the 7 miles to see the sunrise over the volcanic tors we began our trip at 3:45 to get to sunrise at 6:50. We then stomped around through the (unknowingly) wet and muddy ground up the trail. 6:50 got closer and closer and we couldn't find it. Unbeknownst to us, we had started on the wrong trail and ended up finishing our day (at 5pm) lost in Alaska for a few hours before we were able to find our way and get back to the road.

I wanted this picture.

So we figured out where we went wrong and again, (although it was a little harder to convince them this time) we set out at 2:30 for a trip to the top of the mountain to see the sun rising over the volcanic tors and we underestimated how long it would take to get to the top! As the sun was rising, I was running through the tundra to move my angle because that shadow was so amazing. I could have stopped and gotten a more mediocre shot but I WANTED this one.

I feel the same way about this process. The first time I tried, I fell off the wagon. Now that I have the ball rolling, I don't just want to say "oh it can't be done" I WANT MY GOAL. And so I have written so much and it has become so natural for me now to think - oh that's a great topic for a new post about my niche - I need to look up a good keyword and do this. It;s getting easier, the more I keep trucking along.

So, All this to say - don't give up. Keep trucking along. AND GET YOUR SHOT. make it count and make it work.

The effort and tenacity that you displayed in getting just the right shot is also reflected in your desire to be successful. Keep up the good work and be as persistent as you have shown.
