How to Make More Money from your Amazon Affiliate Links

If you’re just creating affiliate links using Amazon.com you are 100% guaranteed to be missing out on commissions and wasting a lot of time in the process as well.

Why is that? Because the cookie only lasts for 24 hours. That's right. Amazon's cookies only last for 24 hours. Even if somebody clicks your link, and buys the product two days later, you won't get credit for the sale.

That's a major bummer, right?

Well, guess what. There's more.

For most of us folks in the US creating our websites, we're only a member of the US based affiliate program. What happens if somebody from Canada clicks your link and buys? That's right. You won't get credit for the sale, because your Wordpress site is not localized to the country of origin.

One other major flaw. Clicking back and forth between tabs to find Amazon links and then adding them into your website takes a lot of time. Without realizing it, you may be wasting tons of time adding these links to your site.

So, there are three major flaws in the Amazon program that most are not aware of.

1) Your cookie only lasts for 24 hours.
2) Your links are only good for purchases made in the US.
3) It takes a lot of time to add the Amazon affiliate links to your site.

BIG NEWS. I have found a way to maximize your Amazon potential. It has saved me time, effort, and a lot of headaches. It allows me to get 90 day cookies, localized links, and significant time saved on pasting Amazon links.

I wrote about it on my site here: http://theceoroad.com/how-to-make-more-money-from-your-amazon-affiliate-links

as promised.....

There is a pug in that you have to install to track your cookie and receive credit from other countries. You then go under that plug ins settings and enter your Amazon affiliate ID in each countrys box that you want to sell in. Ill try to find the training or discussion that I found that info and pass it on

Only problem with this is that you still only get the 24 hour cookie. With the solution on my web page, it doesn't just localize the links. It also creates the 90 day cookie option, and localizes those links.

Hi, Justine..i bookmarked this..great!
Many thanks to you..God bless.

Hi Justin, you've raised some very important points here. The other downside is that if you haven't made a sale within 90 days of joining, they suspend your account. You then have to re-apply, which means your affiliate ID changes, so you have to remove all your links and add them back with the new ID.

To get paid commissions for all countries where Amazon is based, you have to first apply to them individually. Then you install the link localizer and fill in all your ID's. You'll then get paid automatically wherever the sale comes from.

PS. Okay, I wrote all this before reading your post on your site. It sounds too good to be true! Must we wait for the video or can we install the plugin by just searching for it in WP?

Lydia.

I have links for EazyAzon on my website post. The videos I'm wanting to create go through how to install it. There are a couple of steps you need to take to get it setup, so I want to help people with the setup. You can go ahead and get it through my site, and try to figure out the setup if you want. Or wait until I can do some sort of walkthrough.

Very helpful! Thanks, Justin!

Now this is the reason why! I was not planning not to put any amazon links on my blog - changed my mind.. Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the blog, I had no idea about the 24 hour cookie thing.

Justin, this sounds great. Thanks for sharing! Do you need to upgrade to the PRO version in order to get the benefits described on your site?

Thanks,
Pat

Yes, you do need to upgrade to Pro to get the localization and add to cart button options. Truth be told, it was well worth it. The time it took me to figure out how to include the add to cart button with the instructions provided by Amazon took forever. i literally had to call their tech support. And even then, it still didn't work. The buttons I added wouldn't direct to the right location and would sometimes cause extremely long gaps in between them and the text. It was a big headache.

When I got the Pro version, I literally was able to zoom through all of this within seconds. No more needing to test links, because I know that they work every time. It has saved me a ton of time and money.

Justin, Thank you for the additional info. It does sound like this plugin is worth the upgrade once I get sufficient traffic to my site :)

I am definitely going to be checking this out when I have a little more time on my hands!

Sounds great! Please be sure to share it with others. If you have any questions, please let me know.
