Do You Know Your Trigger?
I published a blog recently on my website and while I was writing it I realised something about myself.
Does that ever happen to you? The "lightblub" moment...when it dawns on you that you're not who you thought you were, but a lot more!
My blog was based upon the dreaded "P" word - the robber of quality time!
"Procrastination is the thief of time" ~ Edward Young
We all know it is a constant battle to overcome when the P word sets in, but really trying to fight it is quite futile.
The trick is to understand why you P when you do, and what to do about P when you've done it ;-)
Research suggests there are 5 known P traits or P personalities. I have given each a name.
Polly The Perfectionist - perfect Polly finds it difficult to finish anything and move on because
everything has to be perfect!David The Dreamer - dreaming David imagines how his plans will turn out, he struggles to actually make a start on getting those dreams into his reality.
Sally The Self-Sabotuer - silly Sally is afraid of making a mistake, so if she does nothing, then nothing bad can happen!
Chris The Crisis Junkie - adrenaline loving Chris convinces himself he works best under pressure, but he is over confident in his ability to actual finish a task.
Breda The Busy Bee - Burnout Breda has lost the ability to say NO, and takes on way too much, all in an effort to tick tasks off a list which makes her feel good!
I discovered that at various different times in my life and at various different locations I can identify with each of these personalities, sometimes simultaneously.
I'm fully aware that LASER FOCUS is what is required to overcome each of these traits and hopefully I will eventually learn to focus on the important stuff and on the things that matter most to me in life.
I'd love to know which P personality(s) fits you, let me know in the comments below.

Hi Jules,
great insights. Thank You for sharing. I didn´t had the awareness, that all the 5 P´s, are forms of procrastination, until I read Your post.
To answer Your question: I think I can´t put myself in any of these P´s, because I think, I am in all of them. Every time, when I pr....,I am in one of these categories. It´s changing from time to time. So Your advice, to work on the laser focus is really great.
May I end, enlightened on the last quote from O. Wilde, the german version:
What You can complete today, never move to tomorrow, because the day after tomorrow is also a day too.
It´s almost like Oscar´s, but I think it´s more crazy.
Evangelos
I like it Evangelos, a different perspective is always good to have.
I think I belong to all of the P's too - unfortunately 😉

Excellent Post Jules and most people do it at one time or another. If you get mail and put it on a pile without taking action is a sign of the "P", word and that is me. If one recognizes it and attacks those situations going forward, they become the winners.
