Do What You Love
Sometimes the hardest thing in starting a blog or a website is picking a niche
Just do what you love.
It will make it easier to write the bulk of your posts down the road.
It may seen interesting to do something you want to learn about; I strongly suggest agains this.
Having knowledge about the subject you are going to be writing on will give you authority on the topic. As you write you will learn more about said subject giving you even more knowledge and authority.
Readers are going to be able to tell if you know what you are writing about or not. If you sound as if you don't know, they won't come back for more.
Keep this in mind when picking a niche; just do what you love.

My first niche was not right for me but I have another that I am very passionate about because it is also on a personal level. I find it easier to work on because it helps but me and others.
I'm having a hard time picking a niche...the things I am interested in and know a lot about are things that I can't really think of any products that I would be able to promote within my site. For an example, I'd love to set up a site about drug addiction and be able to help people! However, I'm struggling with actually starting it because I can't think of much to promote. Do you have any suggestions for me?!
Is there something that your are passionate about? Also, for drug addiction I am sure there are plenty of books for both the addicts and the family of addicts.
@ Jaweda2k~ Addiction is actually a passion of mine, well, that doesn't sound good... the subject of addiction and helping people with their addictions has been something that I have wanted to do for many years. (Down side to a degree for it is there is no $ in it unless you have at least your masters basically). I have always been curious if there is a way I could do it online. But, like I said, it is a difficult niche for promoting products I would think. I'm into artsy things such as, crafts, painting and pastels. However, I believe I'd be better at writing about addiction, this is the dilemma I'm in at this moment.
Search for products on Amazon along the addiction route. Don't worry about applying there yet, but go look for things that would work. You could also promote activities that could be done to help avoid the situations involving the addictions.
If you are really passionate about the Addiction niche, it will show in your content. From there just be a little creative with your advertising and just let that be a secondary item.
Jaron, thank you for sharing. It does make it easier to work with a subject you love or are passionate about rather than a subject your have little to no interest in. I picked a subject that I am knowledgeable and have an interest.
If you are passionate about something people will see that more then seeing that you may not be an expert on it. Have confidence in yourself & keep working it!
Haha! You are absolutely right. I'm just curious to know what people might think about this, especially when many people back off from doing what they are passionate about after realizing they aren't any good at it. ;)

Good point, folks can tell if you know what you're talking about or if you have direct knowledge or experience with something. Doing what you love will help you writing about what you love.
Plus it's easier to add your own personal twist to it
