8 Tools to Lead You to Blogging Success

Last Update: April 29, 2016

Hi everyone!

I recently made a 8 tools cheat sheet for an email opt-in incentive. I decided to share them with you all.

  1. CoSchedule - If you read my blog you know how much I love this web app. So easy to use and makes planning out blog posts a breeze. I am already booked for a month worth of blog posts. All typed and ready to go.
  2. ProWritingAid - Another web app that I just released a review of yesterday. Help me out a ton when it comes to grammar. I'm not an English major so I need all the help I can get.
  3. GIMP - I have a few video tutorials here on Wealthy Affiliate where I use this program to create and crop images. This is a full Photoshop-like program and can do much more than I even know how.
  4. WP Smush - This is a WordPress plugin that compresses and optimizes images. Smaller images mean faster load time for your blog. Faster load time means happy readers.
  5. MailChimp - Email list web app that allows free accounts up to 2,000 email subscribers. A great place to get started building your email list. They even allow the free accounts to schedule emails. Just set and forget!
  6. GTMetrix - This website will analyize your blog's load time and let you know what needs improved for achieve a quicker blog.
  7. SumoMe - Lots of people use this plugin. It's great! But make sure to keep the number of apps they provide to a minimum. More apps will lead to a slower website.
  8. Wealthy Affiliate - You all know how great this one is!

These are all great! Accept I would be careful with Mailchimp. They recently changed their policies. If you are promoting any kind of work from home or make money online business they will give you the boot (with no notice I have heard). I think they also now don't allow affiliate marketing.

I switched to Benchmark Email. It is relatively new but they also allow 2000 subscribers on the free membership and you get to use the whole system that a paying member gets access to, including auto responders and A/B split testing.

So far I like it. The only issue is that there currently is no integration with sumome. You can use a third party app called zapier to integrate, but it doesn't work well.

So far I only get a small handful of subscribers a week via sumome, so I just manually add them to my benchmark email list. It is working fine for me.

Oh wow! thanks my blog is about helping bloggers be better bloggers, but i'll check out Benchmark. If they are good and have more tools then what I get at mail chimp it may be time to switch.

Per sumome; do you download the CSV and upload them to Benchmark? or do you have to do them one at a time?

I just copy and paste from sumo into benchmark. Like I said, its not a problem right now since I only get about 1-3 subscribers a week.

Make sure you grab your affiliate link when you do your review. Benchmark offers a 25% commission, even for free members! If someone signs up for a paid account you get the commission.
