Succeed In The Attempt Of Doing Nothing!
The sure killer of success. The certain death of a dream. The very thing that would crush your goals! And that is the attempt to do nothing and succeed in doing so! When that 'attempt' becomes successful we are history! The title of this post was another one of Dr Robert H Schuller's great quotations and lessons in life.
So I Would Rather Do Something Great And Fail!
Now, we are not to try to do something great with the intent to fail! What we are saying is with our great intents for success, even if we failed in the process, we would still be proud in declaring that indeed we tried to be successful!
It's like this, as a hunter for wild game I try not to shoot as many bullets if possible. But then the more shots I make, the bigger my chances at more hits. So increasing my accuracy is also very key to success! Accuracy and proficiency comes with a lot of practice! And practice requires shooting a lot of bullets and learning from the bad shots and turning our shots into accurate ones!
Failing Forward!
Failing forward is simply using our mistakes or missteps and turning them into stepping stones for success as made popular by another famous Pastor, author and lecturer, Mr. John C. Maxwell. Failing forward is using a seemingly disadvantageous event into an advantage. Failing forward is never accepting defeat but getting back up, re-assessing our situations, re-grouping and shooting for new targets!
Keep Failing Till You Succeed!
Wow! Keep failing did you say! If that is what it takes, yes! Failures are our lessons. Failures teach us to remember how we failed so we do not repeat the same things. We become smarter. We become our own point man in the jungle that we are trying to master. We learn how to avoid the traps. We indeed become the skilled professionals of our chosen field!
The bullseye below shows a lot of bullet holes! And look at the pattern very closely! The bullet holes show a few hits on the black, some on the blue, tons on the red which are closer to the center and eventually the center (yellow) is tore up as more bullets home in on the real intended target! If this was done by one shooter, it tells us that he went through a process till he got the right formula for his aim. He kept failing to hit the center till he consistently hit the center!
Everything Is Cool On The Rock From The Tropics!
At a comfortable 76 degrees F in the early mornings, we on this tropical Rock of an island enjoy halfway decent temperatures this part of the year. The temperature rises up to about 85 F and that is with an 80 percent humidity during the middle of the day.
A daily 1-1.5 hours of brisk walk and occasional stretches on our wide and flat rooftop is now a routine. I get started around 6 in the morning and stay till about 730. At that time the sun rays are still human-friendly and the noise of the tri-wheelers (passenger tricycles) are just getting started.
My house is now almost fully furnished from locally crafted beds, chairs, cabinets, tables, dressers. All bathrooms now have water heaters. Need to keep adding to the room air conditioners!
The house is also designed to duke it out with the 'baddest' of super typhoons that pack some really nasty winds. Our island is at the center of the typhoon alley.
Now, ladies and gents that is the latest from this 'tough old guy' from the Rock In The Tropics.

Gardening in Australia sounds very exciting! Here on one of the many islands in the Philippines we have a lot of rain and things just grow and keep growing! You throw a seed on the ground and weeks later there is a tree growing!
