Revision Control - A good idea?

Ok guys so I just installed a new plugin called revision control. Up until today I had not heard of it but I think it is pretty cool. They have many different versions but the one I am using is by Dion Hulse. So what it does is it allows you to control the number of revisions that are stored on your website. If you are anything like me, you have made a ton of revisions to posts and pages. Each time you adjust, mis-spell a word, or edit and save the content, a new revision is created. Sometimes you can end up with 20-30+ revisions if you keep editing and changing things. Anyway I figured I would share this for people who don't know about it. I got the plugin and set my controls to only allow 3 revisions. By doing this, hopefully speed will be increased as you don't have tons of useless revisions stored on your site.

To get the plugin:

1. Go to your plugins page and Add New and type in Revision Control.

2. I used the one by Dion Hulse but it is up to you what you want.

3. Activate the plugin.

4. You can access the plugin by going into settings then revisions.

5. When you bring up revisions it will give you the option to set a limit on how many you want to keep. I chose 3 personally but this is up to you.

Hope this will help someone!

thanks - my revision list is getting too long - we seem to need a ton of plugins though, and then we hear that we should have a limited number - wonder if something like this could be used for a quick clean up then deactivated till needed again! ?

Yea I have the same feelings...needing and seeing tons of cool plugins and at the same time trying to keep it short...

The quick clean up idea is great! Then uninstall. I'm sure you could do this over and over. Good call!

well I don't really know the difference between uninstall and deactivate, when it comes down to where the problems with them occur, hopefully they will make it easier to have a ton at one time down the road, why else create 30, 000 or so!
