Any Ideas Why My Traffic Halved?
So a little while ago I made some changes to about 12 of my posts in accordance with the webinar on improving page rankings (https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/tips-on-i...). That was on June 19th, which corresponds to the same time as my traffic dropped by more than half, as seen below from google analytics! :(
I'm just curious if anyone has had similar experiences or could comment on why my traffic has dropped? The posts that I made changes on were not receiving much search engine hits anyway. The changes that I made included editing Meta descriptions, picture file names and alt-tags, and adding H1s, all with my targeted keywords in them.
Here are my results 2 weeks after applying these changes (red = worse ranking, green = better ranking):
I checked my rankings using "Digfer", and these are google search rankings.
As you can see, there are not that many massive changes for the search terms I targeted after 2 weeks and doesn't seem to have worked consistently across the board - some improved, some became worse.
I can't think of any other reason that would halve my website traffic though, as it coincides with the same time I made these changes. Is there a chance that I did too many changes at once and google has seen this as 'keyword stuffing'? Would this really downgrade my whole website as a result, or just the affected posts? They weren't actually bringing in that much organic search engine traffic anyway, so I doubt these rankings caused the sudden drop in traffic.
Thanks in advance for any comments or advice! I'm thinking of reversing the changes that I made now, to see if I can fix my traffic problem, but not sure if I have been 'blacklisted' so to speak by google!

I don't think it had to with the changes you made because your traffic was declining. I personally make changes to my site all the time. Google does what Google does. Lol I suggest you don't revert back to your original post. We all improve our sites as we are building.
I would suggest looking at your competition and see what they are doing. Maybe they are offering something that you're not. I would also highly, highly recommend getting more comments on your site.
Go to the new comment thread, it's really cool. Finally always add new content to your site.

When doing some pages audit, your ranking will drop first, then it will rank higher afterwards. Depending on your technique to do the editing and the competition too.
I suggest to edit one post/page per day, and social share it once perday as well. After that ask for comment.
Doing that has improved my ranking.. :)
P.S. Do NOT edit your content that have been ranked on the first position. It may drop drastically. But it will up again later.
