Great rankings in Google but no conversions.

I have been working on my website for about 6 months and while Google seems to like my work by allowing me to Rank on their #1 page for 5-6 posts I still don't see any conversions. Maybe it has to do with the fact thst these posts are mostly intended to help people and not sell them anything? (Google likes helpful content that is not flooded with affiliate links). I know that money is a byproduct of our effort but, still, it would quite boost my energy and devotion towards my website if I could hit my first sale. Any suggestions?

Well... at least you're ranking... I wrote a 1600 word post that took me 2 days to write as my second post, having trouble even getting it indexed. I got so mad I went and got my social sites and linked them all to my blog. Did some sharing of my post too. I hope things turn around faster.. lol

Still a very new site though

Have you tried to Fetch as Google?

We are in the same boat John. My sites receive commissions from AdSense and I don't have any product other than my blogs. No affiliate commissions too for no sales yet.

The problem is that I could not write regularly. According to Kyle's teaching in one of the lessons. Content makes a fulltime income if it's regularly filled with relevant information.

So if our sites are for content let's fill it then the time will come for us to reap the fruits may be after a quarter from now or maybe longer. We don't know but I'm sure it will come.

I believe the same. Truth is that I have been lazy for quite some time now but that is going to change.

Go ahead and add those affiliate links. Awesome!

I can't. These posts are mostly informational. Affiliate links would seem irrelevant.

Google has no issues with affiliate links, otherwise all those ecommerce sites would be useless.

Make your call to action loud and clear if you want people to click them, and put them in the text. See some successful people around and how they do this and you will know what to do.

As for (lack of) conversions, do the maths. Only around 1% of those who come to your site will actually buy, and this can be a terribly small number. Again do the maths, see how much traffic your top rated posts bring in total, did you target keywords with at least some monthly traffic, if yes, how much, then take 1% and this is it.

Taking that into consideration, it is totally normal that I haven't landed any sales yet because my weekly visitors according to Google Analytics do not exceed 50. I guess I have to work on getting more traffic and content. Thanks for the advice!

Are you targeting the US for this site? If so, it would be much better if the $ preceded the costs. Otherwise it makes it very obvious that the site was not written by an American which can make US residents nervous about not trusting things like prices. So make it $1500 rather than 1500$.

Am I right that you aren't using Amazon but a different program, perhaps something from CJ?

Thanks Jeannine for mentioning that. I always put the $ after the cost, I wasn't aware of that. And yes, as you can see from my name I'm Greek. I'm using Amazon.uk e http://bay.com and http://Newegg.com mostly.

I see Your site But the reason Might be that You are not promoting Your products enough like to have an centralized promotion hub for your links and You content no sending them to Your hub.
Is Your website so You must decide with links where You want Your visitor to go to a certain page to pitch products or WA

UX user experience

I only promote products through affiliate links with product reviews. Not all my pages have affiliate links in them. And yes, all my Product Reviews are listed and I'm trying to viewers to these pages through internal links on others.

Sound like you are doing the right things; jut keep doing them & be patient! -Jim Schupbach

I guess that's what I'm going to do! Thanks!

Hello John!!
What is the name of your website? I would love to check it out!
Curtis

Hi, Lodge! Thanks for taking the time. https://johnpchardware.com. I would appreciate your feedback.

Hi John, it's like I wrote that myself! but it's been 9 months for me.

We know Google doesn't want our articles plastered with affiliate links. I ended up adding shopping banners to my sidebar :D
This way, it doesn't matter what page or post the visitor is on...the option to shop is there. PM me if you want to check out my sidebar.

Sometimes visitors just want to shop seeing how convenient the banners are right there for them.

Hi, Patsy I always appreciate your comments, they are very helpful and encouraging. Thank you. Until now I'm doing what Kyle suggests in his trainings. Adding affiliate links only in Product Reviews and internal links which will lead to a Product Review page on my other posts and pages. I'm also using Image Galleries at the end of each of my posts and pages to redirect visitors to other relevant ones. Do you think that Shopping Banners will be beneficial? Is there a plugin for banners?

Thanks John :)

I do exactly as you state, and have a couple of links referring to other relevant pages or posts.

You don't need a plugin.

You just go to Appearance>customize and end up on your website in edit. Scroll down and you will see Widgets. Click on it and add the code in 'text' or 'html' depending on what type it is. You can also add something just above the code for the banner stating what it is etc...and also add 'Affiliate link. at the end of the code as we should do. When you add the code, just click on done and it appears to the right on your website for viewing. If it's good then hit Publish. You can also change the position of it by dragging it above or below other banners.

It's so easy John!

Actually, I only recently added them. I checked out many other websites and see many who do the same so this is when I added mine. I thought we weren't allowed to but they state it's 'monetizing' our websites. They are NOT in the way or look too junky and not on every individual page or post.

I follow rules all the time as you do with following the lessons. Doing this is fine otherwise I wouldn't have done it. Let me know if you need help :)

Thanks Patsy. I'm currently on duty so I will check it out once I get back to my PC. I won't hesitate to contact you if I need help. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance!

Efharisto Ioannis :)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you as well :D
