Do You Approve Negative Comments?
Well for me the past 2 days is all about Comments...:) And i been getting some 'controversial comments' or maybe i should say people do not agree with my personal point of view, which is fine or maybe they do not understand my perspective which is also fine.
I posted a blog about 'Your Body Language on Social Media' and was talking specifically about a Profile Photo. So i got a comment like this:
'I’m sure I’ll get some push back after saying this… But I don’t take people who use social media seriously. They are consumers. Not producers. I could care less about what people think of me and I could ESPECIALLY care less about what people who form opinions based on social media profiles care about. I enjoy my life…. I don’t need to post pictures or witty sayings about it to get validation from other people that I’m actually happy. Social media is a waste of time'
I approved it, and replied ' You are entitled into your Personal Opinion, and good on you for speaking it up…:) Good Luck!'
My niche is body language training, do you guys think this comment adds value to my site? When do you decide if a comment is NOT good? I would be interested to see how you perceive this comment, maybe it is only my perception that this is not positive?
Thanks,
Joana

I have approved a negative comment, but only because my come back is swift! Lol seriously, sometimes negative comments can add to the conversation also, or cause others to want to comment too. It really depends on what is being said. As long as you're respectful in your disagreement, we have no issue. Lol
Hi Joana,
I'm inclined to agree with you that it's their point of view and so it's neither wrong nor right. The fact that it was voiced vociferously might even encourage more dialogue/engagement by other people on your site.
I've only rejected one comment ever. It came from WA site-rubix comments where you are expected to give a certain amount of words to qualify. It was clear that this person was only interested to getting credit and so they didn't read the article and therefore made comments that were unrelated to the content and ended it with 'blah blah blah...'
For me, unless someone is rude or using obscene language, I would publish what they say.
Best regards,
Chuka
Thank you Chuka, for the reply.
Well this comment came through site rubix too...:)
It does makes sense in everything you say, the only thing is it is kind of not a discussion. My site visitors will be people who actually want to learn on improving their body language. And they might think why would this person even bother saying things like that...:)
Hi Joana,
I'm disappointed that that was an 'internal' comment from site rubix. I thought it was from the 'public'. I do not understand why this person took that tone given that the purpose of these internal comments is to help promote the site and activities therein. I see where you are coming from. It's your call!
:) yea i will see, i kind of go with the gut feeling lately...:) Appreciate your point of you...:)
You're never going to please everyone. I personally would not approve the comment. I wouldn't want it to reflect negatively for my site, but that's just me. I am old school and was taught that if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.
Hi Shawn,
I am in a way like you where do not leave negative comments, unless i was affected. I guess in a way i did not know till this morning that i can actually reject comments.

That depends - personally I would approve a negative comment so long as it wasn't personal against me - if it is likely to start a debate where other people want to comment on it, that will work wonders for you anf shift you up the Google rankings - so yes I would approve them, I would use them to my best advantage!
