Writers block. how can i fire up my brain.
We've all suffered from it haven't we. It's called writers block. You know, it's that moment when you really need to write another article for your site and nothing happens. The brain goes to sleep. Well, that's especially the case for us old timers.
So I have a tried and trusted method to get your brain fired up and ready to become creative.
Firstly, use a template. Just construct the basic one with a thousand words and five paragraphs.
If I'm struggling to write an article I'll at least try to come up with a title first. Place the title in the title box. You can always change it later so don't be to concerned if you're not totally happy with it. . Now move to the content box and simply write any ideas you might have.
Simply jot down anything you can think of that might be relevant to your blog. Now this is where you'll start having issues trying to come up with ideas. So this is what I do next.
I RESEARCH THE TOPIC:
Yes, I research the topic and jot down ideas while reading other peoples opinions on it. No, I'm not stealing their ideas, I'm simply trying to get my creative juices flowing.
NEVER EVER STEAL SOMEONE ELSES IDEA'S ....
Google doesn't like it, the owner of the idea won't like it, and it's simply not nice.
BUT THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH LEARNING FROM SOMEONE ELSES CONTENT.
After all, that's how we all learn new things. The idea is to do the research, find out things about your favorite topic you may not have known before, and implement it into your article using your own words and conclusions.
BACK TO THE BLOG.
So now you can return to your blog. At this stage I start dividing the blog into seperate paragraph headings and simply try to write as much as I can under each heading, If you are still having issues then save the document, go and have a coffee tea, alcoholic beverage, or whatever is your fancy, and return to your blog later.
THIS MIGHT TAKE TIME.
Don't panic or be in a hurry. You want to create a useful document with good content. You may have to repeat the above steps several times before you reach the content level and word requirements you are aiming for. Sometimes you may only add one or two ideas or even words. Eventually you will finish it.
THERE WILL BE GOOD DAYS.
There will be days you will be able to write an article in one sitting. So don't let it get you down if the above method seems to take up a bit of time. It's better to leave a project for a while, and try to find inspiration elsewhere before returning to it, then to fail miserably and give up.
I hope this blog helps you. All the Best. Jim

Hello Jim,
Thanks for the insights, this is my kind of day today. I can’t decide on a topic. For now, I’ll have a glass of wine and bounce ideas off with friends.

On days when my brain is functioning as it should be (Not very often). I write down as many ideas as I can and even put down a few thoughts with each idea. This way I'm always ahead of myself and can find something to expand on when I'm practically brain dead. Jim
Great idea, I’ll sure will give it a try. Sometimes I’m having problems finding good keywords.
Thanks Jim, this is helpful. I started writing a article and all of a sudden my brain went blank. I tried and tried and could not come up with anymore ideas. So I just left it and started another article and had no problem writing it. Now maybe I can finish the other one.
Thanks for your comments. Yes, leaving it and trying something different can definitely help. Jim
Thanks Jim, it certainly does help. Although I must admit, I haven't gotten to the point yet where I can write an article in one sitting. Sometimes when I'm at work (on my day job), I'll get all creative and ideas start spouting from my imagination like crazy. Then I'm like, "WHY can't this happen when I'm sitting in front of my computer?!?"
I hear what you're saying. I have great ideas when I'm in bed and should be sleeping. Or when I'm at what I like to refer to as "My Second Job". Jim
This happens to me. I run a CNC machine at my full time job. I keep a note pad with me all day at my work table. Whenever ideas pop in my head... I jot them down. Then when I go home get on Jaaxy and do research for keywords. Kyle’s idea in the training video works for me. It does keep ideas fresh. It’s my way of preventing the thought that you have about why you cannot think of ideas when you need them.
Great idea. I think we all need to do, or create habits around, those particular things that help us individually. Each of us are different and take different approaches to all our required tasks. Jim
Great idea! Although I'm not always in a position to stop and write stuff down, I've started carrying a notepad and pen anyway!Thanx!
I made a blog about avoiding writer's block a few days ago that may help you: Avoiding Writer's Block
I will have a look at yours. But I wrote mine more for others . To help them over their Blocks. Jim

Good advice! There are times when I feel like I have the block and I can't think of a single thing to write. Free writing without an end result sometimes helps.
Best wishes,
Karin
Thanks Karen . I wrote that piece pretty quickly this morning before going to work. While at work I thought of a dozen other points I should have made. Jim
