Certified Commenter- Confusion

So it appears I'm now a certified commenter even though I'm waiting on some of my comments to be approved.

I'm beginning to wonder if this is even all that it's hyped up to be.

Right now I see that it could be a good way to gain some comments on my site but as far as making money from it, could be a waste of time.

I also noticed it dropped my WA ranking down by about 30K but does WA ranking really matter?

What's everyone's opinion?

Hi, if you like giving reviews then it is another bow in your hat as you have got noticed for the help you have given others. If you get anything out of it, sure it's more than you were getting before, so it's a bonus!

The thing I am benefiting from reading and commenting on post is the opportunity to view and respond on the creativity of others. I really find it fascinating to see the many areas that are chosen as niches.

It sure is educating and even fun, but is it really worth it to spend many hours per week giving comments to other people's websites? Rather than building your own business?

I agree we really need to spend time building our own sites. For me, I decided to help others out when I realized how important it is get comments. I too spend a lots of time writing comments. I had to put it in perspective for me and only do as many as I can in one hour. That’s about four or less depending on the theme and the type of comments requested. Some days I just can’t do it. I do understand how you feel as I had similar feelings. I had to focus on how it would benefit others as opposed to how it benefits me.

I've never given comments consistently enough to become a certified commenter. I suppose when you become a certified commenter, you can start earning money with the comments? But it's like 50 cents per comment, right?

On average, I spend 15 minutes per each comment I give (the time it takes to read the post and write a comment). So, I would earn a whopping $2 per hour by giving site comments - not really worth it.

Of course, it can be a lot of money in a third world country, which might be why the quality of comments you get in the site comments section is often so poor. Some people are just copy-pasting comments to earn a couple of dollars.

Hi - it's actually $0.50 for every other comment, so 4 comments would earn $1.00. And even that's not guaranteed, as it depends on the economics of the platform.

Then it's even worse! Thanks, good to know.

It was never designed to be a way to earn good money. However, it's a great way to get comments for your your blogs. If you receive a bad one you should reject it. For those people that are struggling financially it can help them to pay for their monthly subscription to WA.
The quality of the comments can be an issue, but unfortunately , it's not restricted to those from 'third world countries'.

So far it's not even every other comment.....Oh well, I will use it as a means to get comments for my site for now!

Your rank is not important.
It’s highly unlikely you will get paid for the comments in monetary terms.
If you want comments you can can go to the give and take thread.
You leave one and you get one in return.

The comments help in a couple of ways. First, you are helping members gain a little traction for their website. But probably just as important, in my experience, is that you are also learning as you read their websites. I wrote a short post about this: As for the ranking, some consider it more important than others. For me, it shows me that I am helping others, as well as myself.
