My progress here at WA
My progress here at WA seems a little slow at a glance but as we learn here, the true magic is behind the scenes. Let me explain a little about how things aren't exactly as they seem.
When I started with Wealthy Affiliate- I was tilling the soil
When I started with Wealthy Affiliate, I knew very little about making websites, I was between jobs and needed a way to help supplement my income. I have plenty of experience in business management and training along with many other trades I have learned but I never did much online till this point.
I came across Wealthy Affiliate when I seen Jacks' review ( my recruiter) as I was looking for some kind of work to do from home. I ran across a lot of scams at this point so I was investigating everything. As I was going through Jacks review and how he broke everything down I thought, " wow, I can start this for free for as long as I want, get all this support and websites, why not" and here I am still. Thank you, Jack.
So, here I was learning how to build my site, going through training and bang, I never thought about this part, what's your niche. Seems silly now when I think back at it but I could not think of one thing. I guess I wasn't the only one and no need to worry if your just getting started, that's what boot camp training is for.
Early in the training was a part where you have to set your goals, I do this in all my training. The first goal I set was to make WA pay for itself, I suggest everyone does this. Some of you may be thinking yeah just recruit other people and that's it, no, I was giving WA a thorough review and was not readily going to recruit just yet. I learned how to build the sites first, then I built a few for others, that is how I got WA to pay for itself and then some. Recruiting now is all extra profit, I don't need to rely on having to go get more people. Make sense? Feel free to message me if you want more of an explanation.
I was told early on to make use of the chat room and community at WA, I very highly recommend you do as well. I had time on my hands and was like a sponge with all the great information I was getting from people here. I would look for the most helpful people and follow them, I have done plenty of networking so I knew the benefits of such groups.
The beginning of the transition - I was planting seed
About a year ago, someone in my network posted a blog that he would personally mentor a certain amount of people after the new year. I of course jumped on this opportunity, he requested certain time sacrifices and in return he assured we would be making an extra $1000 a month by the end of that time. He charged nothing for his help, it was a true pay it forward concept.
Working with Bo was an eye-opener. He reviewed all of our websites and we actually began our training before the end of the year. In one of our tasks he had us go back and review our pages and touch them up with what we had learned. When I did this I realized that I have not been following my own rules in business and quickly adjusted the issues. Immediate changes began to happen, so quickly that within a few weeks I regrettably had to step away from his amazing training. I am still in contact with this group, they are all great people.
I tell people, "don't be too busy to get busy" or " the biggest downfall to any endeavor is inaction". I was so busy learning I wasn't putting any of it to use truly. I build businesses yet didn't have my own, this was now a problem that I had to fix immediately. I took immediate action and formed my business solutions company ( sales, staffing and training ). Within a month I had 20 people staffed in 2 states and about to add another state and 15 more people. See, I got stuck in a rut and did not take appropriate action. My point here is always keep moving forward, even baby steps is progress but there always has to be tangible action.
Where I am now - I am cultivating the field
As some of you know I am usually quite busy these days, I now have 2 businesses of my own and two I work with ( one is a NON-PROFIT). I also do business building and team management training. I travel quite a bit because of what I do, this past year I been in just about every state in the eastern half of America. I have a total of 6 websites I maintain currently and I am working on another to launch before the end of the year.
As you can see, I usually do not have much extra time to go through the training step by step. I highly recommend you do that. However, I have done a lot of it in different sections, both the affiliate training and the certification training. So, even though it says 2 on my certification I have actually done a lot more. Some may have noticed I do not blog or post new pages as often as many but I try to be thorough and accurate. I have a few blogs I have been working on and off for months. I am sure you will find them worth the wait when I post them.
Even this little update has taken me several hours to do. My phone has been non-stop but it's a great thing. Within the time writing this I have opened up a new area for a sales team with the top energy provider in the country, and was offered a position with another company making a substantial salary.
Where am I going - reaping the harvest
In the next 3 months I plan on being able to run most things remotely again. I will have teams in place and leaders trained to train others. I have no plan on stopping anything, I truly love what I do. I see no ceiling to hold me or anyone else back, only new doors opening. I will be setting new goals to surpass and helping others do the same.
In 6 months I will be setting people in place to take over some of my duties completely. Perhaps take a nice long vacation and get some quality family time would be nice. I will still be continuing with WA and building things up, just at a slower pace.
Things aren't always as they seem, sometimes it takes work but your efforts always pay off in the end.
I wish you all the best success

Interesting Jim!
My team in Australia is just 3 people including myself, all of us in different countries (because, why not?)
My team in Asia has shrunk to only me... and I can see how that has been extremely detrimental. So much so that I'm considering cutting losses and focusing on building the Australian team further.
When building your teams, what are the challenges you face in identifying and training leaders, and how do you overcome this? Are you able to do so without sacrificing cashflow?
Thank you for the comment,
The key to finding leaders is to identify they arent just followers. I will give you a few things to look for
1) They produce
2) others follow them
3) they lift the morale of your group
4) they raise up the leaders ( compliment )
This is actually along the lines of one of the post Im writing, I will get that out soon.
I alway recommend evaluating your team honestly and make adjustments when needed.
Of course the cash flow question would depend on the type of team your working with. A trick Ive learned here is the higher you raise others up the more they make automatically and should increase your cash flow.
Hope this was some help.
Wish you the best success
