Valuable Lessons in the First 4 Months at WA
As expected, sticking to the dream of building a profitable website through these first months has required some grit. While I am progressing towards my money goals slower than I had hoped, I've learned some valuable lessons.
- Watching Training Videos is Worth My Time
All of the training videos I have seen have been worth the time invested. Even though I might of had to take 15 minutes to an hour out of my limited working time to view a video, I have found that my content creation later is more efficient and avoids problems.
If I were starting over: I wouldn't wait to "work" until I had the perfect setting to do the next most important task. I would use some of my inbetween moments to power through parts of the basic training, watch extra trainings, and research keywords.
- I Work Best if I Give Myself a "Circle Day"
A productivity strategy I have heard in the past is to occasionally schedule on your calendar a circle day--a day where you can focus solely on creating. While a lot of my time spent on this business will need to be an hour here and an hour there, giving myself a big chunk of time and setting aside other tasks and responsibilities (where appropriate) can help me meet my goals and not get frustrated by turtle-paced progress.
If I were starting over: I would schedule some larger chunks of time (minimum 4 hours) for work on my new website.
- First Affiliate Programs Should Be Selected Purposefully
I joined Amazon Associates at the first possible moment. Now the clock is ticking on making those first sales in time, and if I did make sales, the commission for every-day priced products is tiny. My time spent on some of these first posts could have been placed towards content with greater potential.
If I were starting over: I would consider which affiliate links I could promote that would produce higher commissions and/or have no risk involved.
I have not earned my first commissions yet but I have enjoyed networking, creating, and learning! Hopefully these lessons can help others who are starting out! With continued work I am sure that I can one day enjoy the fruits of this little tree I am nurturing.
All the best,
Jess

Congratulations, keep up the hard work.
I have been writing content for 5 months now and haven't had a sale. I've not even tried to male 1 tbh, not rushing at all just making a base to my company and writing good content. I have written over 40 articles but hardly no affiliate links and no google ads.
Building your website and writing content using keywords is the key to success. Combine those things and you cannot fail.
Keep watching the classes they are very educational and keep up the good work.
All the best,
Kevin
Thank you Kevin! It can be hard not to “chase the money”, but I think the way you’re doing it will be the best in the end!
Jessica, your post resonates well. I have taken the same strategy as you and Kevin. Building my foundation, and following my guiding principle. Money Follows Mastery. I will master this by creating a solid foundation, getting people to follow me, and then when the time is right, the money will follow my mastery. Chasing money is the opposite of what is successful.
Here is to the success of doing it right!
Ye I think so too. My priority is to get a good relationship with Google and get my website and articles ranked using good content before I focus on earning money.
Slow and steady wins the race apparently 🤣
Keep up the good work
Kevin
