Where are you going?

You have started your journey at Wealthy Affiliate. Why did you join? Was it to make more money? Was it to have a better life? Was it to make friends? These are all valid questions that have to be answered. The only person that can answer those questions is YOU!

You will need to look inside to see what motivates you and answer these questions. In your training, you will be asked to put down your goals as to what you would like to make. You will need to think about your goals as to what is realistic to you.

How do you make your goals come true? There are a couple of answers that I could give you but the most important answer is that you will have to put in the time and work! No one can do the work for you. You must put in the time. I would recommend having a mentor that is willing to help you when you need it. You can get help from the community but nothing beats a mentor. Otherwise, you will have to figure it out for yourself. This could take some time to master the skills needed.

Make a plan!

Make an action plan! Find someone (possibly a mentor) that will help you be accountable on reaching your goals. Celebrate even the small accomplishments, they lead to even greater accomplishments.

When you start your action plan, it may seem like it will be impossible to reach your goals. Staying with the training each day gives you the momentum to make progress each day. There will be times that you are stuck. Don't worry, you can get help from your mentor or from the community. STAY WITH YOUR PLAN! Stick to your plan and work it to see success.

Expand Your Horizons

You have now started moving toward your goals. Don't let up, instead make more daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals. Once, you have reached a goal, mark it off the list and add another that is just a little harder.

You have come to realize that you have accomplished a great deal. You have started your own website and writing blogs for your website. You are now reaching more people with information they need to make their lives better. Helping others is part of the learning process. The more you help the better you will be(personally and professionally).

Leadership

You have continued your journey and have become successful with your website. You are helping others in the community on a regular basis. You may have even become an ambassador!

Now comes the hard part. You are now so busy that you are considering not being as active in the community in order to pay attention to your thriving business. There are only so many hours in the day and you want to make the best use of each hour. Look back at your journey, how did you get there. It was because someone took the time out of their busy schedule and offered you help.

Helping others is one of the key concepts of this platform. That is why we have the "pay it forward" system at Wealthy Affiliate. We strive to always help others when they need it. It may just be some encouragement that yes you can do this. It may be taking time showing an easier way to do things and have greater results.

Conversation with myself.

I recently realized that my anniversary date of four years have come and gone. I look back at my accomplishments and see how few in some ways they are.

My first year, I setup my first website. I went through part of the training but lost heart because I did not have a mentor that wanted to help because in his words " I am too busy with my business to help you. You will have to figure it out for yourself." This caused me to lose heart but I still continued. I went back over the training and learned some new things that helped me greatly.

In the middle of my second year, I had to have heart surgery to replace my aortic valve that had been killed by a bacterial infection. Six weeks after discharge from the hospital I developed a neurological/autoimmune disorder that took a year for me to return to some semblance of normalcy. I still am numb in my fingertips and feet.

I returned to Wealthy Affiliate in a more noticeable fashion. I try to give positive feedback as often as I can. I soon learned that I had cataracts that were literally causing me to go blind. I had no sight in my left eye and on 40% in my right eye. I worked as long as I could but again had to take a break from Wealthy Affiliate.

In May of this year, I returned, yet again, to Wealthy Affiliate. It took me more than two months to resume my studies and working on my websites. I have a great mentor that helps me whenever I need help. I have completed more work on my websites in the last two weeks than in the last two years.

Some may say with all of the adversity I have faced that this may not be for me. Especially since I have not been consistent(that is key). I can only say to everyone here that if you want to reach your goals: DO THE WORK, SPEND THE TIME, ASK QUESTIONS, HELP OTHERS, BE UNDERSTANDING(YOU WERE NEW ONCE), BE POSITIVE AND BE PATIENT.

Continue to do the training and reach out to others if you have any questions about the training. Watch the webinars, they are great examples of how the training works. Be supportive of other members.

This helping supportive community is the reason I am still here. I have met some amazing members that have been so supportive when I was ready to give up. I know that my success is coming. I have endured some of the worst things that can happen to a member but because of the support I can move forward and be a better affiliate member.

Excellent post, Jerry! Keep doing well, my friend!

Jeff

I just realized that I have been with WA for 4 years. I wanted people to understand that whatever the obstacles you can overcome them with persistence.
Jerry

Awesome, Jerry! Happy 4 Year WAnniversary!

Jeff😎👍👍

I can relate to your struggles Jerry, and your determination to overcome them.. All the best. Jim

Thanks. It has not been easy. Part of that is my own laziness in the beginning, but after I got sick and came back it has been one thing after another. I am just now getting the momentum going in my favor.
Jerry

Well done. Remembering what brought us here to start with helps us to know if we have reached where we want to be or not. Everyone's why is so unique, but there are also similarities.
Best wishes on progress. Sami

Remembering the essentials is essential.

Vasile,

There are common similarities among most members at Wealthy Affiliate. Mainly, we want to be in a better place financially. The amount of dedication we put into our learning and our websites often gives a clue about how successful we will be.

We have to remember what motivates us and to use that motivation in a positive manner.

Jerry

I would like to write something so full of realism!
Thanks for sharing.
A blog article like a mentor.
Respectfully
Vasile,

I used to have trouble writing but found the more I wrote the better I became. I am now following you.
I just wrote about some of my experiences and obstacles that I had to overcome. Stay positive and reach out if you need help.

Hi Jerry
Thanks for a little of your background and encouragement to find a mentor. As a matter of interest, how and where did you find a suitable mentor?
Cheers
:-)
Richard

Richard, I believe that I have a good mentor in Israel17. Whenever I have a question I send him a PM. He normally responds later in the day. I understand about being busy and take that into account. I am so glad that he agreed to be my mentor unlike the one who said he was too busy to help. That is part of the deal when you are asked to be a mentor from Kyle and Carson.

I have overcome a great deal in four years but I AM NOT GIVING UP. I need to do this for myself esteem and for my family.

Thanks for reading and commenting.
If you are looking for a mentor just ask one of the more successful members here. The worst they can do is say no. If you are wanting to be a mentor then send me a PM.
Jerry

Thanks for clarifying, Jerry.
:-)
