Why am I am Grateful

There are so many things that I am grateful for!!!

I will give you some of the backstory so you will understand why I am so grateful. Last week my wife was told that she was to have surgery to remove a polyp that was 15 cm long and 5 cm wide (6 1/2 in by 2 in). This, of course, caused us great concern. It was such a huge concern since she is high risk for colon cancer. Her father died from colon cancer and her mother has had over half of her colon removed.

I did as much as I could to reassure my wife, but that help was only partially successful. We did what we could to keep the tension and stress low.

On Sunday, my wife asked our parish priest to give her the Anointing of the Sick. I had already asked for our Faith Community to pray for her. I had also asked the Knights of Columbus to put her on our prayer list. There were over 2000 people praying for my wife.

Prayers Answered and Jubilation

Monday came along and we were at the hospital at 6:00 am as directed by the doctor. We were expecting her surgery to last approximately 3 to 3 1/2 hours. She went back for the surgery at 7:45 and at 10:15 the doctor came to me to say that there were no cuts made on my wife as expected. He had decided to do an ultra-sound on her to determine exactly how large the polyp was. He was very surprised that the polyp was approximately 90% smaller than what had shown up before. He was able to remove the polyp using an endoscope. It was now about the size of your thumbnail. It was easy to remove and would make the healing process much shorter and easier.

We were both shocked and amazed at the news. We were obviously overjoyed at the news. My wife was told that she would be released from the hospital on Tuesday. She has a followup with the surgeon on Thursday and her Primary Care Physician on Tuesday of next week.

While we were amazed in some ways, we are certain that the Good News is the result of our having faith and allowed the miracle to happen as it was supposed to. As with anything, sometimes we get in our own way of good things happening to us.

A Lesson Learned

I have learned a great deal at Wealthy Affiliate. I try to put those lessons to work in my every day life. Sometimes I can and sometimes I can't. Learn to have faith in something or someone greater than yourself. Never give up. Search for more solutions. Ask questions. These all are part of what was reinforced for me during this time.

My wife is home and doing well. She is still moving slowly but is making progress. To those of you who knew about my wife's surgery and kept her in your thoughts and prayers Thank You. To those of you who did not know but would have prayed for her, I had little time on WA last week as we were trying to get any loose threads taken care of in order to be prepared for her surgery.

My thanks and gratitude are to you all. You are an amazing community to all in need.
