Count your blessings

You never know

Recently, my wife and I had gone grocery shopping. We have several friends that work there that we have made over the years. The store manager came up to us and wanted to talk to me about smoking a brisket and doing pulled pork for the Employee Appreciation Day that they were planning. This got my attention right away since my niche is grilling. I discussed what her requirements were and when the event was to take place. Of course, I was excited about the opportunity to show off my skills but nothing was set in place at that time.

Opportunities

The next time I was in the store I again saw the manager and she asked me again about doing a brisket and pulled pork. I talked at length with her and viewed this as an opportunity to do a good deed for someone in the neighborhood. I asked her how she knew that I did quite a bit of grilling and she explained that one of her staff had told her about my website and how full of information it was about grilling. She had gone to my site but had not left any comments about my site. She told me how impressed she was and had her market manager look at my site and had him to start pairing certain items together. After, the pairings were done, the store saw a 20 percent increase in sales on those items.

How do you count your blessings?

I accepted her offer to do this small favor for her. She supplied everything I needed to do the smoking for her. She supplied the pork butt and the brisket as well as the spices. She supplied the charcoal and started fluid. She literally supplied everything I would need to make her Employee Appreciation Day a success. Even if your traffic on your site seems to be slow and the comments are hard to come by, you never know who is lurking in the background waiting at times to approach you about something in your niche. She told me that if all went well that I would have two more stores like hers to do grilling for. Each of these events will net me a substantial amount. I am thankful to have this opportunity to increase my knowledge and experience. This was an unexpected blessing for which I am very thankful.

That's a website all about something that people would have the opportunity to take advantage and benefit from and so the website owner can benefit too.

Excellent! That's the amazing thing about WA - the results aren't always affiliate payments. There's other stories on this site about people selling their sites for 4-5 figure sums, getting offered jobs and so on.

Congratulations and throw some almonds in the smoker for me. :)

I did put a few almonds on for you. I also put on some freshly sliced pineapple on as well for garnish. Oh how sweet it is.
Jerry

If only I was there to try them. :)

I love hickory smoked almonds. Sadly they're extortionately expensive here in the UK, and a lot of the time, the 'hickory smoke' is just flavouring.

Great story!

Hey Jerry. This news sounds wonderful for you. Congratulations!

If you would add your URL to the Follow Jerry on your profile page, it would be so much easier to visit and leave you some comments. I'd love to see your site, especially since you said it's about grilling. :)

Have an awesome day,
Wendi

I shall do that for you.
Jerry

Thank you kind sir.

I added the URL for you. Here is a recipe for you.
Pulled pork is made from a pork shoulder or pork butt. They are the same thing. I generally get one that is about 9 pounds.
To prepare is quite easy and delicious.
Pork Shoulder 9 to 10 pounds
favorite rub rub it thoroughly and vigorously
put a pan of apple juice and water filled about halfway under grill plates- this will help keep the pork from drying out
grill at 275 degrees fahrenheit charcoal or gas if charcoal add charcoal every 2 to 3 hours to maintain temperature
place pork shoulder on cool end of grill fat cap side up
leave for approximately 9 hours
take off grill let rest for one hour and pull apart

Yummy!!! I can't wait to try this. I'll let you know how it goes. Thank you so much. I feel special!!!
All the best,
Wendi

What a wonderful story! So encouraging! Thanks for sharing, Jerry, and best of luck on the grilling!

This is wonderful. It's great how your site brought exposure indirectly.
Thanks for sharing.

nice. jealous but nice.

It caught me completely by surprise. I was surprised to find that not only did she follow my site but that my site also helped her business. Her store is part of a major chain of grocery stores across the United States. It could lead to an exposition of my site and abilities. Just have to wait and see.

That's great. Thank you. I live in New Hampshire but I have been so spoiled by the BBQ from Texas as I did a bunch of work in the DFW and Houston areas.

I live in North East Texas.
Jerry

That's what I'm saying ... nothing like it.
But we have better delis up here.

That is probably true. We have the best BBQ though.
Jerry

No question about it.

Nice! Sounds good!
Best,
Marcus

awesome. and so true. Congrat's Jerry

Jerry, great post. People need to know what you do best.

Must be in the universe that knows that this guy Jerry has a specialty. Find ways to market your expertise, my friend.

The world needs to know!

Btw, what the heck is "pulled pork, anyway????"

frank =)

Frank, I will give you a description of what pulled pork is and my recipe for making it.

PULLED PORK - That tastes good in my mind Jerry. I'm not a cook but I will show this to my wife, she's the real cook in my house. I'm the official taster! lols

Thanks buddy, can't wait to try it out!

frank =))))

Does she grill as well?
If not these instructions are very easy to follow. The hardest part is the waiting for it to be done. I have used pineapple juice instead of apple juice the results were amazing. I hope that your family enjoys this. Please send me a PM after you try this. You never know this could become another income on the islands for you.

We don't have an outdoor grill, but my wife has sort-of like that. Can't really describe it only that it's plugged into an outlet and the bottom have ridges like a grill (in shape that is) Remember that outdoor setup I was jealous seeing a few of your posts back? We live in a townhouse. No room to do what you do.

Ahhh pineapple, ok that sounds like my speed.

Boy, I'm getting hungry I'll make me some spam, eggs and rice plate. Sorry, Jerry, my stomach is growling need to calm it down now.

Thanks, buddy, can't wait for my wife to read your post and see if we can make do with what we have.

frank =)
