Where Do We Live the Most?
As far as social media, I spend more time on youtube than anywhere. I am not really much for facebook, twitter, or others. I used to be, and I may go back, but right now I am only keeping a limited presence on social media.
However, I saw this quote on a channel I follow, "Quotes", and it did resonate with me.
"If You Don't Take Care of Your Body, Where Will You Live?"
I enjoy the gym. However, taking care of our body involves more than just the gym.
Eating well, as much as possible, along with getting enough sleep also plays a big part. We can't out work weak nutrition.
I am well aware that many people are in wheel chairs. Many have prosthetics. Many people are simply limited physically due to circumstances beyond their control.
In those cases, I believe that "to whom much is given, much is required", meaning we can always encourage and help all people when they allow us to. Help them with any part of life that we can help them with.
Sometimes people inspire us, sometimes we inspire others. That's how life works.
Body language is everything many times. Treating all people with respect goes a long way.
We live in our bodies. We are born there and we will die there, wherever our bodies happen to be. So, we help ourselves when we try to eat right and exercise in some form.
I am reminded of a scene in a movie (can't remember the title), but a former soldier who has two prosthetics is at a rehab center on a treadmill.
A high school football coach takes his team to the rehab center to let them see what rehab is about for many wounded soldiers. It was a good idea.
This particular soldier is on a treadmill running. A player walks up to him and is stunned, just standing there staring.
The former soldier tells him to get on the treadmill next to him and start it. The player does so.
Once the player is jogging at a light pace, the soldier then looks at him and says "Now, try to keep up with me". The player has two good legs and the soldier has his prosthetics.
That young player gets a quick lesson in what it means to be tough in life and not allow any self pity, at least not for long.
I wish I could remember the name of the movie, or show. At any rate, that scene still sticks me with me and it has inspired me to do my best to stay in the gym, even at 57.
I'm prior service. I had scud missiles going over head. That is as close as I was to combat. I was in Desert Storm, the first one.
Regardless of whether you were in the service or not, you still live in your body. I was also in Planet Fitness recently and saw a man in a wheel chair doing what he could.
I shook his hand. He smiled. I told him he impressed me. I hoped to encourage him some.
Part of the reason for writing this post is that my blood pressure is up a little bit and I am trying to get that under control as well. I think I will, but I wanted to throw that out there for any of you reading this.
Take care of your blood pressure. Take care of your health. Walking is outstanding exercise. Lifting weights that you are comfortable with is good both mentally and physically, if you can.
With Respect and I hope all of you enjoy your day, wherever you may be.

Hi Jerry, I am 59 and living in an electric wheelchair with limited mobility due to MS. Exercise is supposed to help. I do my best. It's hard because it's painful. I do primarily upper arm strengthening because that's what helps me to be able to transfer myself from bed to wheelchair to toilet and chair. I have two electric chairs broken, so it's been frustrating with supply chain issues with getting parts.
WA is what keeps me sane. Thanks for sharing your story.
What you stated here about our bodies, “ we are born there, and we die there.” is so true. Our bodies do eventually wear out as we get old and then we die.
I knew people in my life who were in perfect health yet they are dead now, they die, with no reason found other than natural causes. They were in their prime, young, healthy, and fit. You can be all that, yet you die there. So there's that. All we can do is just do our best, just some things we can't change that are in our genes, the DNA blueprint. If there is a genetic preposition then yes you can work hard to be healthy and try to prevent it but the gene beats you.
That's what's happening to me. It's genetic and of course, I believe environmental causes as well. Sigh. My thing is best for me to try to enjoy life as much as I can get out of it. Until the my body dies there.
I certainly hope I didn't say anything that upset you. I admire you for working to take care of yourself the best you can.
Maybe you can find somebody to exercise with. I wish you the best. Stay in touch with me here. Keep working on your site or sites here at WA.
I'll encourage you the best I can through communication here.
Keep working on forward progress.
Jerry
