Terrific Though Timid Thursday!

Hello everyone here in Wealthy Affiliate!

This morning, I began my day in the usual fashion of going onto the computer and getting caught up on the member blogs posts and questions in the Wealthy Affiliate Community!

Tig-Tig was nearby, though not paying attention to me yet! She was too busy messing with Monica, who has to take one of the kids to have some glasses fixed later, but she is not up right now! (This is one of her days off)

Sorry the picture is blurry, I didn't realize it until just now when I loaded it!

Eventually Monica got up and ventured outside with the Blog Dogs, and while they were doing their business, she took a picture of the morning moon!

About an hour later, I finished up on the computer and decided to take the Blog Dogs out myself!

They didn't stay out long and were ready to go back inside the house in a hurry! It was a bit nippy to tell the truth!

I had a package on eBay that I needed to ship (if I can find it), so I said goodbye to Monica and went to the eBay house!

When I got there, the sun was on its rise to the summit of the sky, peeking through the trees across the street.

I couldn't ind the magazine right off! I had also looked last night too, but I'll likely cancel the order rather than waste too much time on it.

I will likely look for another platform to sell my extensive inventory of old books and magazine since eBay has really gone south over the last couple of years! I've been told that Etsy might be the place for me to check out by another member here!

There was still no lock work today either, but I did drive over to the warehouse complex to replace a lock on one of my buildings that had a malfunctioning one, as Kevin & I discovered while we were there the other day!

First, of course, I drove over to the locksmith shop house to grab a lock that I wanted to use for it!

The drive over there was pleasant! The title image is of the sky at the locksmith house--clear and blue! Then it was over to the warehouse, where I installed the lock, and the rest of my jaunt around town consisted some errands, chiefly the bank!

That drive was just as nice! When I finished with that, I went back to the eBay house and managed to get in a little more Wealthy Affiliate research!

I also will likely bite the bullet and refresh myself on YouTube relearning what little I knew about the Block Editor, only this time around I will have to buckle down a little harder!

I talked to Kevin on the phone a couple of times when he called! He's making keys for a car and then going to his railroad job tonight.

I finally got a locksmith call, but it was about 30 miles away round trip, a semi-truck which was running, so I had to decline--none of my vehicles will make it out that far, I am missing part of my right foot, and so I don't try to climb up on the big trucks anymore because I have no balance, and it was running, and they were asking someone to hurry.

I referred them to a wrecker service, and that was that. It is in a motocross area too which is difficult to find during the day let alone when it is getting dark! At least I finally got an actual call though!

As I leave the eBay house to head home, I'll leave you with the picture I took about 30 minutes ago of the evening!

I HOPE THAT EVERYONE HAD AN EXCELLENT THURSDAY! REMEMBER THAT ANOTHER FRISATSU STARTS TOMORROW! THEY ARE ARRIVING FASTER AND FASTER NOW!

What a neat shot of the moon...it's been super bright and pretty this week.

It sounds as if selling on eBay isn't as good as it once was. That's surprising. A few years back I was trying to sell off a ton of used books from my collection. Managed to find a business that would buy them in good condition and recycle the ones that weren't. But it isn't easy to offload or sell them, I found out. Too bad, because there's nothing better than an old school good book.

Have a great weekend :-) (again...)

I can still garner some sales of my old books on eBay, Susan! The problem is that this year, they totally eliminated PayPal as an option for us to accept, and now my bank gets inundated with several tiny transactions which raises my bank fees quite a bit. Their convoluted accounting methods now makes it hard to keep accurate financial records, and while I used to love their eBay labels, they have now eliminated media mail as an option for me shipping my books! That not only doubles and sometimes triples my shipping expenses, not to mention it also forces me to go to the post office, when for the last 6 years I have not had t leave the house to ship!

I'd still rather stick with eBay because I am used to how the platform operates, and I have moved a lot of old books, old magazines, and old newspapers! We will see how it all transpires!

Jeff

That is not helpful if they've eliminated PayPal as an option. That really puts the squeeze on sellers then for cost and labels etc. Never easy, is it. But great to hear that you've been able to sell many old books etc. that way. Maybe I should try it lol.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained, Susan! Back in the day, I was selling anywhere from $15K to $25K. Now I'm lucky if I get $1-$5k!

I've got to list some of my rarer ones now, when I get the motivation to do it!

Jeff

You're absolutely right, Jeff! Those are some impressive numbers. Nice to know people are still reading and collecting books. You must have quite a collection!

Yes, Susan! I still do! It is so time consuming doing the listings anymore! I just have to buckle down and get busy!

I hope you are having an excellent weekend (Frisatsu)

Jeff

Sounds like you managed to get a bit done Jeff, but sorry you were unable to land any paying jobs for the day!

Frisatsu has arrived again, I hope you have a profitable one my friend!

Just getting to this, Jeffrey!
I'm been everywhere else today!
I'm curious about your used books sales!
I have a huge library, which will go to waste when I'm gone, if I don't try to sell them.
Several hundred on Astrology alone, and many are out of print.
You've given me an idea!
Thank you!
Enjoy your day, Jeff!
I'm hoping to start my WA affiliate site with Jay's tips!
Homework!!
Later, Bro!
Barb

You'll love it, Barb! There are still people who love old books and want to hold them! I have lots of old magazines and newspapers from the 1880s to the 1990s, as well!

Jeff

I have a ton of hardcover books that I've been considering selling.
Most of my collection consists of hardcover, complete collections. Some are medical, educational, and authors like Stephen King.

I'll probably use the money for WA and maybe upgrade some of my plugins to pro licenses.

I found a tool called BookScouter, it's available in the Google play store and the Apple store for free. It scans regular books and textbooks and compares them with 30 vendors on the prices.

BookScouter is a free service and they pay by check or PayPal.

I have one medical book I checked and found it selling for $78.

John

Wow, John! That is something I should look into as well!

Jeff

I just started this, so I haven't listed anything yet, but the wife said she doesn't care about the books so I'm planning to list them soon.

If this works, I'm hitting thrift stores to buy more books to sell.

That's what I used to do, John! I have tons from auctions and thrift doors, and have sold tons over the years!

Hope it works out for you, my friend!

Jeff

I love the feel of a good book!
I have book from AnnArbor back in 1970, that still smells like the incense in the store!! Close my eyes and I'm again right back there!
For my birthday for years, my favorite thing to do was head to Circle Books in Ann Arbor, then The Aquarian Age in Houston! I was never disappointed in my gifts!!
Sadly, both stores are gone, and have been for years.
Barb

I have many Art books and cookbooks as well as my psychology and personal growth.
Languages and dictionaries are a big section, too.
Sounds like another good source to check out, John!
Barb

I've found many a keeper at garage sales and resale shops.
I have next to zero fiction. Read them once and pass them on, but my reference books are gold!!
Barb

Sadly, I feel your pain, Barb! Virtual everything, but I want a book I can hold in my hands!

Jeff😳

I've got a German Language Encylopedia Brittanica, and other sets from 1908 & 1915!

I feel exactly the same way, Barb! A kindred spirit, indeed!

Jeff

It's always great to get the job call even when you turn the job down for sure. For me, it means my business is still worthy.

Definitely beats a call that my extended warranty is about to run out on my car. You know, the one that I've never had since I've owned my car.

It's getting ridiculous, I got 3 of them robocalls yesterday, and I'm on the national do not call list.

On the last call, I pressed 1, and wasted their time for about 15 minutes, then said a few "nice" words and hung up.

I probably enjoyed that more than I should have...lol

John

Yes, indeed, John! I was beginning to wonder!

The robo-calls are horrendous! My buddy told me about a guy who welcomed them, because he had somehow set up a 1900 number reroute and they got charged so much per minute! He was raking in the cash--IF what he told me is true, but it begs the question, is it possible??πŸ€”πŸ€”

Jeff

I love it when I get auto warranty renewals for a car I've already sold! LOL
I just refinanced my home!
I've received at least 30 pieces of junk mail! Always "Time sensitive" ! ;(
Barb

Reminds me of ancient recall service requests on old cars that I have bought, Barb!

Jeff

If that is possible I'd have 10 lines and put the numbers on as many robocall lists as possible.

If true that's automated genius level...lol

One of the calls I received was for a van I sold 5 years ago.
That was also the call I pressed 1 on and messed with them.
I doubt that will stop them from calling me though.

I like Jeff's friend's solution with the 1-900 redirected calls.

John

Haha, I know right, then who would even need to work? Just install those lines and make a mint, John!

I'd take the courses to learn that skill if it were available...lol

Me too, John! If you find something out please share!

Wait a minute, Jeff - you got a call to fix a lock on a running, semi-truck? Did the driver get locked out of the truck while it was still running? 🚚😎🐢🐱🐢

Isaiah 😊

Yes, apparently, Isaiah! 😎🐢😼🐢

Happy Frisatsu!
