Fancy A Tour of Jeff's EBAY House Full of Valuable Clutter? Part 1

Moving away from my normal motivational post, I was inspired by reading Twack's Post "Fancy A Look Through the Keyhole" the other day when he showed us photos of his unique storage and use arrangements, to do a similar post--due to the extent of my inventory, this might be a mini-series! The picture above is one wall of my "Ebay" house's 'living' room. (I live elsewhere--this is one of my old houses).

It is around 2,000 square feet give or take with a full basement. It's crammed to the gills with items acquired from myriad estate auctions over a period of about six years.

My locksmith shop is located at the back in a 10' X 20' addition that I built back in 2014.

I also have a 115-year-old limestone building and assorted complex that used to be the lot for my dealership (that can be a series all its own!) It is also full of antiques, etc.

Shadow is afraid to come over to this house, as you can see why! I've been called a "Collector of Collections" by some of my friends, but in reality, I think I'm a hoarder, though I do make money from my hoard!

I have CDs, VHS Tapes, Laser Discs, Cassettes, 8-Tracks, old books, magazines, old newspapers, military uniforms and other assorted militaria!

There are also many unique items as well!

I have many vintage stereo receivers, VCRs, Base Stations, turntables, tube radios, items too numerous to mention!

All kinds of knick-knacks, bric-a-brac, and one of a kind items.

I also love miniatures of all kinds, and I have a camera, projector, film, and photographic equipment collection that is over 7,000 pieces strong!

Unfortunately, as you all can see, I am extremely disorganized, except for the fun fact that I can usually tell someone the general area of where something is! I was passionate about going to auctions and buying and selling, but that was when I was making better money. Since my operations in 2015, I have slowed down a lot.

This is only about 1/20th of everything that is in the EBAY house!

I'll be taking more pictures and doing a volume two in a later post! I guess if there is a tie-in to Wealthy Affiliate, it would be that this disorganization of my EBAY house, reminds me of the condition of my websites which I set up hastily early on and didn't maintain!

Now that I'll be going back through the training and setting up a new website, so also will I be continuing to reorganize this house and eventually downsize! Organization and Success in 2020 is my goal!

WHAT ARE EVERYONE ELSE'S GOALS?

Good morning Jeff,

Your eBay house certainly looks very interesting, are you able to sell everything?

I notice you have quite a few stereo units etc. I remember purchasing a high-quality stereo set about 25 years ago, it was something that I had always wanted! It's now in the loft as my wife felt it was too big for the room.

I guess things have changed a lot with technology? I think I paid about Β£800 or Β£900 in total for an amplifier, CD player, twin cassette deck and I believe a second-hand record deck. I had some nice Mission speakers which seem to perform well! It's good to have a bit of a blast now and then, however, I can't do that when it's backed up in the loft!

Do the above type of products still sell or have people gone completely digital?

Have a great day.

Roy

Many items form this post have been sold. I have alos sold some of the Stereo receivers too, even with the costly shipping. There are some audiphiles who prefer the vintahe equipment to digital. There are still those of us who wish to "hold" something in our hands while we are living on this earth.

Of course, I also "horse-trade" on occasion with collectors. I miss those days of the hunts at the auction and estate sales, but what I don't miss is having to load, unload, and perpetually organize. I will likely be doing this for the rest of my life without ever having to go to another auction!

Jeff

It's an interesting job that you are doing, Jeff, I can imagine you've come across some seriously interesting items!

It's interesting that you have sold some of his stereo equipment! I was quite disappointed when I had to put the stereo in the loft as prior to purchasing the stereo, it was something that I had wanted for a long time! Or at least a good quality stereo, I had a basic stereo, but wanted something good and solid that produced a good sound!

Are there any physical auctions left in your country, Jeff? We still have them here but not like we used to! I used to enjoy going to the old farm sales when a farm was changing hands and the machinery was being sold off.

I used to sometimes go to Cambridge machinery sales, I think it was the biggest farm machinery auction in Europe. That still goes on today.

Enjoy your Sunday.

Roy

I definitely have come across some seriously interesting items, Roy!

I know what you mean aobut the steros. I've been out of the auction circuit so long, but I imagine there are some coming back since the plandemic is petering out, my friend!

I'll check an old channel I know to see if there are any.

I have been to several of those farm auctions, but I bought vintage Americana--old tolls, etc, which I could easily seel for much more than I paid, and was affordable at that time to ship.

Sunday is winding down now. Just on the computer while keeping the fire tended to!

Have an excellent new week, my friend!

Jeff

Good morning Jeff,

It has always fascinated me what people do for a living, at least you have a huge amount of variety in your job!

One day I may be able to get the stereo out again or have a special room for it! I guess married life brings a few rules and regulations!

What are Americana- old tolls, Jeff? It's good that you can make money on them.

It's always good to keep the fire company on a Sunday!

Have a great day.

Roy

Thanks, Roy! Variety is the "Spice of life", my friend! It is what keeps us from getting bored with it all!

We all face challenges every single day, and that makes us have to use our "God-Given" mind, my friend!

Life is NEVER boring!

Jeff

I think it's fantastic to have variety, Jeff! If I go to a busy railway station and see all the people going to work, I actually feel sorry for them! Many of these people are highly intelligent and, they have done the same things for years and years, how boring! I'm sure many of them could have done their own thing and had a much more exciting life! It's great that we enjoy the spice of life and have variety!

I agree Jeff, we are a creation of God and we need to use our God-given mind and be overcomers!

All the best.

Roy

It certainly is, Roy! We would be bored stiff without the variety!

I know what you mean about automatons doing the same thing over and over and over! That would be the death of me, my friend!

Yes, God gave us a mind, we need only use it!

Have another excellent day!

Jeff

Good morning Jeff,

As they say, great minds think alike!

Have a great weekend.

Roy

We do, indeed, Roy!

I hope you are having an excellent Saturday, my friend!

Jeff

It was a good Saturday, Jeff, thank you!

Roy

Thats fantastic.

Do you have an online shop where you sell all this?

My website is all about swing dresses from 1940s, World War II, the music and dance at that time. It seems a jumble at the moment but would be interested to find out if you have anything from that era.

I am away to look at your other link now.

Helen

Thank you, Helen! Yes, I have an eBay store since 2002!

Jeff

PS, there are many other posts on the eBay house!😎

Wow,
I love this. It's like Aladdin's cave. I love collectables. I have saved quite few good things for my kids when I pass on. Some are from my childhood. They hold great memories.
This is one house I would love to explore.
Love this post.
Thank you for the share. :)
Debs :)

You're very welcome, Debs! Thanks for the kind sentiments! Believe it or not, those are only a few pics of two rooms in a TEN room house! More to come on this one, my friend! πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜œπŸ™„

10 rooms blimey even more exciting and fun to read. :)

It certainly will be something to see, Debs!πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ˜œ

Oh Jeff!! How I would love the opportunity to roam your vast halls and haggle and bicker over this or that. I tend to be a bit of a picker, and your collections would keep me busy for days, and possibly bankrupt. lol.

I too have a collection. Mine is of the politically unmentionable kind, and I've been thinking of downsizing myself. It's a little difficult in these times for my liking tho. Thank goodness I live in a free state. haha

Greg

Greg--I'll PM you! Thanks for the kind sentiments!πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž

I am disabled and since social security disability doesn't think I should be paid enough to even live, I try to supplement my income in various ways. My husband is great and pays the bills but I still like to contribute. Especially for play money.

Several years ago, my mom and I had a yard sale. A full day of work and giving tons of stuff away at the end, we had made $80. My mom was totally done with the stuff. So I decided to sell what was left of the junk online. I made way more money on that, than in the entire garage sale. So that started my sell stuff online habit. Now I have an attic and part of my house full of rotating junk. Junk is not a fair word, as it is a mix of pretty much anything that will sell but junk is easier to write.

However, a few days ago, I had a lady swoop in and buy quite a few of my items that had been posted for a long time. Imagine my horror when I went to the attic and could not find one item. That has prompted me to get my butt in gear and get some system of organization in my house. 😞

Oh, Nicole, I've experienced that problem more than a time or two--especially disconcerting since up to the time it was sold, I'd literally be tripping all over it! I FEEL YOUR PAIN!πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ™„πŸ™„
