Competition
According to Wikipedia - "Competition is, in general, a contest or rivalry between two or more organisms, animals, individuals, economic groups or social groups, etc., for territory, a niche, for resources, goods, for mates, for prestige, recognition, for awards, for group or social status, or for leadership and profit. It arises whenever at least two parties strive for a goal which cannot be shared, where one's gain is the other's loss (a zero-sum game)."
Do we have competition here at WA? Yes we sure do, in the form of recognition for outstanding service to the community. This is more of a friendly competition and is separate from creating your websites to make money where the competition comes from outside of the community not from within. I believe that not having competition within the community is one of the reasons why we all get along so well together.
In a marketplace 9 to 5 job, which many of you have in addition to your affiliate marketing business, you are competing against each other to either get ahead, maintain your position or prevent your job being outsourced or discontinued. You have to watch what you say and who you say it to. Years ago I was taught that sharing everything you knew was good, it didn't lock you into a particular position and allowed management to move you around and eventually promote you. Now a days you have to be very careful, my job was discontinued for sharing information.
Glad to be back in an environment where we can share information freely not having to worry about competing against each other. Thoughts, comments? Thanks. Enjoy.
Jeff

I admire that at WA, you can learn all you need and more, network with people around the world at all different stages of competency....and keep it all 'stress free'....no tests to pass, no thesis to write, etc. For the few years I have been here, I have seen those who do not do well with the word "we" take their "me" someplace else.
One less stress in your life. This is the way a learning environment should be. Thanks WA and Mr. JeffDolson
It still amazes me, how freely the WA community are with sharing their insight, knowledge and expertise, with receiving only a "Thank You" as a form of "payment".
I've experienced a form of this before, but not to this extent.
Thanks, Jeff. I think - at some level, at least - that the WA ranking system can be viewed as competition. It's harmless, healthy competition, though.
Absolutely right Stephen, as I mentioned regarding recognition for outstanding service in the community. This is done by the ranking system.
