How To Promote Amazon Products and Get Paid

blog cover image

Hello WA Family

How is your week going so far. If you have anything that you wish to share in the comments please do. How to promote Amazon products and get paid is the topic of the day, so if this is something that you want to know more about this post is perfect for you.

Amazon Associate Program

Most of you might be the most interested in the Amazon Associate program, so let us begin here.

  • This free program allows you to earn commissions by promoting Amazon products on your website, social media, or other online platforms.

How it works

  • Sign up and create an account on Amazon Associates and get approved.
  • Generate links to use the program's tools to create unique affiliate links for specific products within your niche.
  • Promote the links on your website, social media posts, videos, or anywhere else you can reach potential customers.
  • Earn commissions when someone clicks your link and makes a purchase on Amazon within a specific timeframe which is usually 24 hours, you earn a commission between 1% and 10% on the sale.

Now that you know how to get started with this program, we are going to learn how to experience the most success.

Amazon Success Guide

  • Focus on building a audience interested in the products you promote. Your target audience should be one that will be interested and have a passion for your niche.
  • Promote products you believe that will solve your target audiences problems.
  • Create informative and engaging content that helps your audience make purchase decisions. This could include product reviews, comparisons, buying guides, or how-to articles.
  • Make sure you understand and follow Amazon's Associates program guidelines to avoid account suspension.

You will be not accepted unless you have 3 sales within 180 days, the last that I heard. If anyone knows for sure what this is, please let us know in the comments section.

Amazon Opportunities

There are a few other ways to earn from Amazon, and that is what this paragraph is going to tell you about.

  • Amazon Influencer Program is for social media influencers with a large and engaged following. It offers similar benefits to the Associates program but with different requirements and commission structures.
  • Amazon Sponsored Products is a pay-per-click advertising program where you can create targeted ads for specific products on Amazon. You only pay when someone clicks on your ad.

You are much better to wait until you are receiving a steady flow of traffic before signing up for any of the opportunities through Amazon. This will allow you to make the required sales within your probation period easier, if you don't make the required sales you can reapply if you desire to.

Amazon Associate Pros

  • With millions of products across various categories, you have a wide variety of products to choose from in any niche.
  • Amazon's brand trust can significantly boost conversion rates. Your website visitors more likely already trust this merchant, so they are more apt to order from your website.
  • The program offers user-friendly tools for generating affiliate links, tracking performance, and accessing reports.
  • There are no upfront costs to participate, making it accessible to new affiliate marketers.
  • Earn commissions not just on the initial purchase but also on any subsequent qualifying purchases made within the cookie window typically 24 hours.
  • Promote to a international audience through Amazon's global presence.

Pretty impressive to many of you I am sure. Before you run off to sign up, there are some cons that you need to be aware of.

Amazon Associate Cons

  • Compared to other affiliate programs, Amazon's commission rates can be relatively low, ranging from 1% to 10%, depending on the product category.
  • Amazon has strict guidelines and can suspend accounts for violations, requiring following their terms and conditions. Another thing is they make frequent changes all the time, so you must keep up with those changes to avoid being suspended.
  • Due to its popularity, the competition for promoting specific products can be challenging depending on your niche and target audience.
  • As you direct users to Amazon's platform, you have less control over the overall customer experience.
  • The short cookie window usually 24 hours means you might miss out on commissions if users delay their purchase after 24 hours.
  • Your earning potential is directly tied to Amazon's performance and policies, leaving you less control.

I want you to carefully consider the pros and cons of this program. Even though this is a popular choice for beginners, there are alternatives available that might interest you more. I have included some alternatives in the next paragraph for your convenience.

Amazon Alternatives

  • Walmart offers a wide variety of products at competitive prices, often with free shipping and in-store pickup options.
  • Target is known for its trendy home goods selection, apparel, and electronics, often with exclusive brands and competitive prices.
  • eBay is an online marketplace with a vast selection of new and used products.
  • Thrive Market offers a membership-based online store focused on healthy and sustainable products, often at discounted prices.
  • Etsy is an online marketplace for handmade, vintage, and unique items from independent sellers around the world.
  • Uncommon Goods provides you with unique and innovative gifts and home goods, often made by artisans.

That is what I have for you today to ponder on. There are many other opportunities other than Amazon that you might want to consider. Depending on your niche you can choose specialty programs such as Best Buy and others as well.

Hello Myra

I am happy to hear my post motivated you to check out other programs other than Amazon

So appropriate for me to read this as I have signed up with Amazon!

Could you clarify the ‘24 hours’ bit ?

Is that the time frame between my putting in link to Amazon or their (the customer) looking at my site and clicking on the links to Amazon products I have selected?

That's the cookie duration. If folks use your link, they're not family or friends, and your transaction complies with Amazon's terms and conditions of affiliation, you get a commission during the cookie period on any purchases they've made. Also, they mustn't have switched the browser or used another device where the cookie didn't reside.

You're very welcome, James!

Hello James

Since Abie already helped you with your question, I just want to thank you for reading and commenting

Good one JB4. Some very enlightening info here.
Interesting you should choose a parrot here, because I was sat in the Palace gardens today with a lady friend, talking about parrots in Madrid and how the parks are full of their calls.
I’ve never heard a parrot she said.
Well, Jeff, quick as a flash I had the mobile phone out and found “”listen to parrot calls””. Very authentic and quite loud. Next second, all the gardners are looking around for this parrot. Even the head gardner turned up to help.
I didn’t own up. Just kept quiet and tried not to smile.
I’ll tell you what, though, Jeff. They were very thorough in their search for Polly parrot.

Hello Dave

The parrot image was eye-catching and kind of a fun way to represent Amazon.

It is amazing how parrots can talk, I have never owned a bird pet but I think a parrot would be an interesting pet to have one day

Sounds like you have a fun day

Its the sort of pranks I get up to. Got me in trouble a few times but you have to have a laugh sometimes.
