Hello WA Family

Do you know how to do keyword research without expensive tools? Let us say for some reason Jaaxy is down, but you don't want to wait to do your research for your next post. What can you do?

Using Google

Google Search Features

  • Pay attention to Google's suggestions as you type.
  • Explore questions displayed under search results.
  • Discover relevant searches at the bottom of the results pages.
  • Analyze snippets and featured content for keyword ideas.
  • See what keywords high-ranking pages target.
  • Using Google Trends you can Identify search trends.

With the Google features above you are on your way to researching keywords without using expensive tools. Now what about other platforms for researching, I have included a section with these as well.

Other Platform Options

  • Search for discussions related to your niche using Quora and Reddit.
  • Engage with communities in your field with Social Media Groups.
  • Utilize YouTube's suggestions for video topics using YouTube Autocomplete.

Cool, now we have free methods to research for keywords despite Jaaxy being down. This is not nearly as quick as using Jaaxy, but you still can be productive despite not having this tool.

Free Keyword Research Tools With Limited Features

  • Google Keyword Planner
  • Ubersuggest
  • Answer The Public
  • Soovle

Remember, these free keyword research tools have limited features compared to Jaaxy, but in a pinch, you could use them without investing in any expensive tools to get by for a while.

How to Organize Your Keyword List.

Using Spreadsheets

  • Use a free spreadsheet program like Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel.
  • Create columns for keywords, search volume estimates, and competition level estimates.
  • Use color coding to categorize keywords such as high search volume, and low competition.

Don't allow the inexperience in using spreadsheets to overwhelm you, once you get started you will be a pro in no time. Another method to consider learning is Mind Mapping.

Mind Mapping

  • Utilize a free mind-mapping tool like XMind or Coggle.
  • Start with your main topic/niche in the center.
  • Branch out with broader keyword categories.
  • Further subdivide branches with related long-tail keywords.
  • Use color or icons to represent intent or priority.

You have learned how to use mind mapping, another option you are very aware of is using sticky notes.

Sticky Notes

  • This is a low-tech but effective method without expensive tools.
  • Write each keyword on a separate sticky note.
  • Organize them on a wall or whiteboard based on category, intent, or priority.
  • Easy to physically move and rearrange for better organization.

A very affordable option many of you might have never considered, so what about free project management tools?

Free Project Management Tools

  • Explore free project management tools like Trello or Asana.
  • Create boards for different keyword categories such as, informational, and commercial.
  • Create cards for individual keywords with details like search volume and intent.
  • Drag and drop cards for easy organization and prioritization.

You should be starting to feel more confident by now that you can research for keywords and phrases without Jaaxy if you ever need to.

Your Research Keys to Success

  • Choose a method that works for you.
  • Group keywords based on intent.
  • Identify high-value keywords with good search volume and lower competition.

By using these methods, you can effectively organize your keyword list. The key is to find what works best for you and your niche.

Search Volume and Competition

Search Volume

  • Keywords with high search volume indicate a large number of people searching for those terms. This translates to potentially high website traffic if you rank well for them. However, high search volume often comes with high competition, making it difficult to rank on the first page of search engines.
  • Keywords with low search volume might not generate significant traffic. However, they are often less competitive, making it easier to rank higher.

I recommend you not be too picky about how much traffic while doing your research. Focus on your competition instead. This is especially a good practice when your website is new, later on, you can be more picky once you have become an authority in your niche.

Search Volume and Competition Balance

  • Ideally, you want to target keywords with a good balance of search volume and competition. These keywords will attract a decent amount of traffic while still being achievable to rank for. Look for keywords with moderate search volume and lower competition levels.
  • Consider focusing on long-tail keywords, which are more specific phrases with lower search volume but also often lower competition.

Finding search volume and competition with a good balance is your key to success. The majority of content writers recommend less than 30 in competition for your best chance to rank on the search engine's first page. Whatever traffic you can get from these should be appreciated and you should not become too greedy.

Search Volume Competition Guide

High Search Volume + High Competition

  • Consider these keywords for long-term content strategies and focus on creating high-quality, informative content that can compete with established websites.

High Search Volume + Low Competition

  • Prioritize these keywords and create targeted content to capture the high search traffic.

Low Search Volume + High Competition

  • These keywords might not be worth the effort.

Low Search Volume + Low Competition

  • While they might not bring massive traffic, these keywords can be good for targeting specific niche audiences and building authority on a topic.

By understanding search volume and competition, and using them together you can make better decisions about which keywords to target.

Final Thoughts

You can conduct effective keyword research without expensive tools. Remember, understanding your audience and using free resources is key to success in your keyword research.

I hope this helps some of you,

Jeff
