Hello WA Family,

The learning never ends when you are a member of the WA community. Today we are going to discuss how to create your business logo. I can remember how overwhelming this was for me the first time, so I hope this post eases some of your anxiety.

Let Us Get Started

Like anything in this business, you need to put some thought before getting started. Here are some things that I always consider myself. Maybe these will help you as well.

  • What are your brand's values, mission, and target audience?
  • Browse logos of brands you admire for inspiration
  • Decide if you'll design it yourself, use online tools, or hire a professional designer.

You want to take your time coming up with a logo. This is the first step in branding your business.

Logo Style

You will want to consider a logo style for branding your business. Here are some things to consider below.

  • Use your business name as the logo
  • Use your initials of the business name
  • A symbol representing your brand

The following above are the most popular styles businesses have used forever. Take your time choosing which style you prefer to be the trademark of your business.

Logo Design

The design can be overwhelming for many of us. Here is a short guide to help you decide on the design.

  • Keep it clean and memorable.
  • Ensure it looks good in various sizes and colors.
  • Choose colors that go well with your brand identity.
  • Select fonts that are easy to read.

Now with what you have learned already, you are hopefully feeling less anxious about creating your business logo. I do have more to help you along the way to calm you even more.

Logo Design Options

You do have some options you can consider that I am going to share in this paragraph. Knowing you have options often eases people's anxiety, so here is what I have for you next.

  • Free online logo makers like Canva offer templates that make creating your logo much easier.
  • Professionals can create unique and personalized logos for a fee.
  • Platforms like 99designs allow you to explore logo ideas from freelance designers.

Most of you will opt for free logo makers like Canva. Others might be willing to pay a fee to have a professional logo designed for them.

Using Canva Guide

Since Canva is my choice of logo design tool, I am going to provide you with a short guide to get you on your way. You only need the free version to create a logo using this guide.

  • Canva offers a vast library of logo templates that makes creating your logo super easy even if this is your first time.
  • Browse and choose one relevant to your brand. Remember, you can customize it to personalize it later.

Logo Design Tips

  • Ensure your logo creates visual interest and avoids too complicated of a design.
  • Use the space to enhance readability
  • Experiment with different fonts, colors, and layouts to find the perfect combination.

Download Your Logo

  • Download your logo in high-resolution formats like PNG.

What to Consider

  • Avoid overloading your logo with too many elements or colors.
  • Ensure your logo works well in different sizes
  • Show your logo to WA members for feedback

Remember, creating a great logo takes time and experimentation. Don't be afraid to play around and have fun!

Canva Alternates

Even though Canva is my favorite tool for creating all of my images including logos, I feel that providing you with other tools is part of my responsibility.

  • Adobe Express
  • Visme
  • Stencil
  • Snappa
  • Pixlr X

The best Canva alternative for you will depend on your specific needs and budget. Consider the following factors when making your decision:

  • What features are important to you?
  • Do you need basic design tools or more advanced features
  • How easy is the tool to learn and use?
  • A tool with a simple interface and plenty of tutorials is recommended if you are brand new to creating logos.
  • Some tools are free, while others have paid plans with more features.
  • Does the tool offer a large library of templates?

This is a very simple guide to creating your business logo, I do hope it eases anyone anxious about creating their first logo.

Hello Myra

I am happy you was able to read and comment on this post

Jeff

I want to redesign my logo, but I keep putting it off because logos are on my list of least favorite things to do.

Logos are exceptionally easy to make in the Canva app. You can also ask ChatGPT to make you one based on a description, you get to edit in the Canva app.

Thank you Abie for sharing the link

I understand Bead Catz

Many members avoid designing their logo for the same reason. You really want to have a logo for people to remember you more

Jeff

I have a logo, I just need to update it which I am not enthused about doing.

I understand Bead Catz

It can be a task many of us avoid doing. I am sure you will get to it whenever the time is right for you

Jeff

Thank you for posting alternatives. I personally don't like Canva, maybe when i have the time to figure out how to use it , I might check it out again.

Hello Selena

Canva is not for everyone. That is why I felt including alternatives was something I must do

Jeff

For right now, my profile image here is my business logo, Jeff

Jeff

Hell Jeff

That sounds like a good idea as long as it works for your business

Jeff

Since my business is fluid, it does! That is my Brand!

Jeff

Sounds like it is a good plan to me Jeff

Go with it
Jeff

I have been, Jeff. It was designed by a former WA member a few years back.

Jeff

That is great Jeff

Working with another WA member for a logo is a great idea we all can learn from you

Jeff

They reached out to me, Jeff, not the other way around, but there are many in WA with new tools that they can now use on their own.

Jeff

That is great Jeff

Many new tools make creating a logo easy to do on your own now. I use Canva the free version for creating logos and banners. There are many others to choose from than there used to be.

It is nice you got your logo designed by a member of WA

Jeff

I might change it up eventually, Jeff, but for right now, it serves my purpose!

Happy Monday!

Jeff

Thanks for this Jeff!

Can you also tell us about slogan generators ?

I use ChatGPT for those :)

Hello James

I am happy you found this interesting, I will add slogan generators to my list of posts for the near future.

Thank you for your request

Jeff

This is the way as TheAbiePPlus has said with ChatGPT.

You just need to feed your AI model of choice with your business information and target audience to get some good suggestions for slogans. Try it out and see what it comes up with! :)

Danny

Thank you Danny for sharing

That is what is awesome about WA

Jeff

Aren't you supposed to tag @JamesNewton vs me?
